I just finished TOS (again). I counted the number of times Kirk has sex for some reason, and it's 4 (Bread and Circuses, The Paradise Syndrome, Wink of An Eye, Elaan of Troyius). I thought that seemed low considering pop culture's label of Kirk as a mimbo; Picard also has sex 4 times, 5 if you count his imaginary wife in Inner Light. I asked AI how many women each character kissed, and Kirk was at 19, and Picard 5. I think all his lip pressing is what earned Kirk his "hello ladies" reputation, and the final episode of TOS is about his past womanizing catching up with him and causing trouble, which cements his reputation right at the end.

You know what's weird about Odo. There's like half a dozen 'sodes specifically about punishing collaborators. And about how much Bagoran society hates them. But nobody says anything about Odo. Kira hates Quar because he did business with the Cardassians. But, Odo was a Capo. And they handwave it away. Like, in the pilot. They say something like he was fair and cared about justice. That's why they let him stay as police chief. And there's a flashback of how him and Kira met. She was sabotaging something. And he caught her and then let her go. But, he was never in the resistance. He was Dukat's right-hand man. In terms of station security. He was a Cardassian cop. He enforced Cardassian laws. He testified against his arrestees at Cardassian trials. He should not have automatically kept his job after the occupation. Even if people thought he was OK. It kinda makes sense to me, Odo was literally a bad baby, a bajoran scientist raised him from a puddle on the floor to a fully sentient being. Beyond that Odo was so isolated they didn't even have a name for his species. When the Cardies employed them it was the best available option. Dukat knew that Odo's autism would quickly find any perpetrator while the bajorans knew that Odo would never be sadistic or try to frame any innocent people. That alone made him 10 times better than any Cardassian, so it makes sense they don't punish him for his collaboration.

I think the idea was that DS9 was originally an undesirable backwater post and the people there were practically some sort of outcasts or want to get away from something. Even when seen from the Bajoran perspective. Kira was a hothead and they didn't put her on the station because she was a super competent or a political favorite. They knew she spelled trouble because her idealist nature would her eventually pit against the more cynical pragmatic types on Bajor. They probably kept Odo to keep him away from Bajor and he already knew how to run things on the station. But it wasn't like he was actually liked by the civilian Bajorans on the station. In A Man Alone, they quickly turn on him because they think he killed a guy. It's still kinda weird how his subordinates trust him.
