the xenomorph was never going to survive into the 2000s
the 80s / 90s futuristic tech and black latex stopped being in fashion, and aliens pushed it too much into generic bug aliens getting killed by marines instead of psychosexual body horror
they should have gone the opposite direction and put it in slasher movies on brutalist space stations, and also given it lips

I was excited for an Aliens on earth scenario until I found out it all takes place on a fucking island so no wider world epic. Alien needs to be EPIC in scale. World war xenomorph I want to see.
