I think season 4 is watchable and even pretty funny, even if it doesn't hold a candle to the original seasons. season 5 is complete dogshit though, I couldn't finish it.

for sure, I agree it's nowhere near the quality of the original seasons, I just don't think it's terrible and it at least gets some laughs out of me. Tobias's Thing plot and Gob's roofie circle for example are all time bits that would've been at home in the original. there were solid jokes just brought down by poor pacing and editing. but I watched the first half of season 5 and don't even think I cracked a smile.

season 4 should be reedited to fix the horrible editing choice ruining all the humor

somehow the re-edit was even worse. no amount of editing can fix the horrible decision to have the cast fragmented and not share any screen time together.
still, it's true there are some good jokes in it. if it wasn't being compared to the first 3 seasons, it would be a decent show. if the first 3 seasons are a 10/10, season 4 is like a 7/10, season 5 is a 2/10.

Jessica Walter was the best performance and character and it's not even close.

I realized on a recent rewatch how pitch perfect every line was delivered with her.

was probably the best character on archer too, not to say I didn't love that cast but she nailed it. apparently they originally said they were looking for someone who sounded like waters only for her to call and offer to do it herself.
felt unthinkable to keep going after she died and the show clearly struggled even more than it had. I feel the same about the concept of laheyless trailer park boys seasons that are supposedly in production
