Why can't DC just get their shit together and fucking lock in? They potentially have way cooler setting than Marvel. With way hotter chicks too. Every attempt at a "cinematic universe" has failed. I know that people also have capeshit fatigue, but still.

They should stop trying to make le epic cinematic universe and just produce stand-alone movies

James Gunn can only write James Gunn talking to James Gunn. All of his characters are shades of one another. All of his characters are simply shades of him talking back to himself. It's why his romances suck, it's why all of his heroes are smarmy, unintimidating and ultimately not the kind of example you want to leave the theater going

Superman. Can't command a DOG. His cousin calls him bitch to his face and doesn't respect him. He can't win an argument with his girlfriend. His girlfriend never once says she loves him. No one James Gunn character ever tells another James Gunn characters that there is love to be had between them. It's always just non-verbal hugging with him. No kissing or acts of passion like jumping into each other's arms or something. Just...eh.

Because people in this business, once they've smelled big cash, are unable to plan for modest profit going forward.

They COULD kickstart DC's comics into shows and movies and make them all good. They COULD appeal to a trustworthy audience that comes and buys tickets and merch and gives them a bump in profits each time.

But that is no longer enough. They don't want to make a profit. They want to say they have the new Avengers. The new Avatar. No one is interested if all you can offer them is basically their money back with a small bump at the end.

All those big dick Jews who used to run studios like small empires and took personal pride in their output, awards, impressing the right people, etc. are long gone. And they never cared for comic books anyway.

The MCU was lighting in a bottle. I'm not even sure how it got so popular. God knows comics are fucking dead as a medium. DEAD.

No one is working on it because it wasn't a James Gunn project. It was a Matt Reeves project so Gunn wants it dead
