Way too much yapping, and I say that as someone whose most played genre is visual novels. Being a VN is not an excuse for poorly paced storytelling and overly verbose explaining.
Somehow P5 strikers is even worse when it comes to this, which is unforgivable. I have very little hope for P6, because it seems like Metaphor just continued to double down on the worst parts of P5. At least SMT V gets straight to the gameplay. Despite its many flaws, I was really pleasantly surprised when that game didn't have a fucking 20 hour tutorial

The lietmotif for hoshi to bokura to only plays in the max confidant rank up so the song isn't nearly as good as kimi no kioku and nevermore.

Another thing is the dungeons, I can't understand how anyone would prefer this shit over the random generated corridors of P4, at least I got to play in those and it wasn't just press x to hop from cover to cover, get interrupted by some shit every 2 minutes and then get forced out to continue the next day

The pacing is pretty bad in all these games. I'm playing P3R and it's insane how long you spend on boring social links before you need to go to tartarus and fight something. If you want to be efficient/challenged you only go to Tartarus once a month, and the rest is just padding. I wish they'd have less but better social links in general, most non-party member social links are so boring I just fast forward the dialogue.

Metaphor also had similar problem but I think the pacing was much better since you had mini-dungeons, and there were less social links with fewer ranks overall. Metaphor just needed bigger and better main dungeons really, but I much preferred it to the Persona games even if the story got a bit predictable towards the end.

Like Yathzee said in hist P5 review, the game blend dating sim and dungeon crawler in a way it could not be interesting as only one of them by itself. Personally I'm bored with dungeons in those game, they're too repetitive mechanical, I don't care about them, it's a chore, but sprinkled here and there a few nights in your busy calendar it's okay enough for me to distract myself from the regular social time managemer simulation bits (that could easily become repetitive with time too).

I'm also doing P3R currently, which I find to be a nice mix between 4 & 5. 4 is well self-contained for me and I care for the characters, 5 is more chaotics and rambling some times, there is too much everything, I could not even care to do the extra royale ending.

Oh I find another "flaw", I prefer the wat P3 and P4 handle their "we have only a month to finish this part of the dungeon before the next story beat", it's anchored in natural phenomenon the moon phase & sunny day after heavy rain, in P5 they had to find convoluted reasons which was funny and original the first few time but you quickly understood they will have to find and external ultimatum every time which sound fake, I preferred the simple straightforward natural explanation.

The themes are good but the plot's quality nosedives after the first target and only picks up in the third semester in Royal. I find it disappointing how in a game that's so much about finding your inner strength and standing up for your beliefs how many social links go like "oh no i am troubled with some blackmail or whatever, please save me phantom thieves i cant do anything myself". Wish there were a few more like Yoshida where it's just about helping someone find (back) their strength. Makoto's SL in particular feels like a waste because it's more about her dumb friend than her which sucks because I feel the character has potential to be interesting but doesn't quite get there. On the topic, a lot of characters feel like they're flat and there's only a handful I really like like Ryuji, Yusuke, Tae and Yoshida. The rest is either forgettable or annoying. You can't date Sae.

I would argue Ryuji buying into it is in character. He has a shit life so being a "chosen one" is LEAGUES better then his normal life. The only real time gates are Maruki where you have like 6 months to get him up 9 times and 5 events with Kasumi, which again you have most of the game to do. Unless youre talking about obscure shit like getting all the room decorations, I dont see how you cant get like 98% of what the game offers as long as youre somewhat efficient. The big issues I remember having were
