A

If a fanbase is shit, I don't engage with it or pay attention. If social media and Youtube fucks are obnoxious about it, I don't engage. In all other cases, a niche game I enjoy becoming popular typically means a flood of discussion online, fan art, the higher possibility of a sequel, and just outright more stuff for me to enjoy surrounding something I like. Sure, there's always the fear that a game hitting the mainstream could then skew the sequel in some way because the dev wants to appeal to them, but a game completely falling int obscurity doesn't give much of a chance of seeing anything from it in the future either.

People act like fanbases and mainstream media are these invasive things that you can't escape. Fucking don't look at cringe fan art, don't watch dumbass video essays that get everything wrong, and stop caring about what a streamer ranted about to his drooling followers. Literally just enjoy what's good and ignore the rest. And if it messes with the game itself or how the dev makes a sequel, then you still had a good experience and you move on.

Fun for the most part, but 100% a downgrade from DaS1. A lot of the areas just felt like I was trudging through mindless corridors, killing forgettable enemies to then get to a forgettable boss. I liked how they tried some new things with the base mechanics, like mixing lifegems in, power stancing, and even the heavier focus on PvP despite not really being a fan of that aspect of the series personally. But, despite all of that, so much of it felt forgettable or lifeless. It's ironic how one of the weirdest entries also has some of the most generic parts to it, like bosses being safe fantasy tropes (big fire demon, medusa, 3 big skeletons that summon other skeletons) or areas being pretty featureless.

It's not a bad game. Genuine 6/10, and I mean that in a good way. I've replayed it a bunch and have a soft spot for a lot it offers.

The DLC I give no excuses for. I came into it years after release and had heard all of this hype, only to be confronted with cool bosses, but absolute dogshit environmental design. The fire and ice DLC especially are endless, lifeless corridors of enemies just sprinkled in. Literal linear halls you meander through, get to a small open area with a shit ton of enemies, then back into halls of nothing. Bosses were dope, but that doesn't excuse the schlock you go through to get to them. Hated the DLC so fucking much.

>UI in menus is ass and poorly explained
>The amount of pictos allows for tons of customization, but trying to sort through them all, find the ones you like, and manage all of your party members separately is exhausting late game
>The lack of picto loadouts makes it really tedious to change things to match different fights
>While the story is great, it does dump Lumiere's plight almost completely once Act 3 hits. Which makes sense in the context of what it all means, but it does feel like it becomes a story about Maelle and Verso more than anything despite a lot of effort put into defining Lumiere. It almost feels like a new story once Act 3 hits.
>Giving the player the ability to break 9999 damage after beating the Paintress was a mistake. The picto should've been unlocked after beating Renoir/the game as a whole. As a result, if the player does ANYTHING besides go immediately to fight Renoir in Act 3, they'll almost guaranteed kill him in 1-3 turns, max. This even leads to accidentally skipping cool set pieces and dialogue.
>Call me a casual, but Simon's fight is lame. It's basically a fight where, if you get hit, you lose. Mainly in phase 2 and 3. He steals shields and nukes dead party members, does immense damage, and attacks so fast that only parrying is viable. It leads to a super boss that demands near perfection, a one shot build, or you just lose. Clea was a better fight overall since you could make a few mistakes throughout and still come out on top. Simon feels like you just ace it or lose, no in between, no consideration of different builds (outside of one shotting).

Still a viable GOTY for me, but issues did exist. Mainly the menu navigation, that shit was awful. It led to me often not wanting to equip new pictos because doing that for all of the characters, remembering which ones I need for builds, which ones I'm working on, which ones I have actually equipped, it was trash.

I’m gonna be genuine, anon. You tried really hard to psychoanalyze that anon for what he said, but it doesn’t really work when the OP is talking about tumbleweeds and nobody talking about the game. If he had made that post for no reason, you would’ve got that anon. As it stands, your post and the whole chain following looks like you being a schizo for no reason. None of this really matters, but you come off like a bit of an autistic retard who thinks he can read people better than he actually can.
