Digital copies never run out and you're kidding yourself if you think it's any issue getting physical nowadays either, there is literally no downside to waiting and actually being able to see if a game is shit unless you need to CONSOOM that badly or get the preorder bonus gear that becomes useless 30 minutes in.

The only games I've ever preordered were Lego LOTR (it came with an IRL Lego figure and some DLC for the game, plus it was a TT Lego game, you pretty much know what you're getting) and Halo MCC on PC (I really didn't need to preorder this one, but it was going to be a day one purchase for me anyway so may as well). I wasn't disappointed in either of them
