There’s a part of me that’s kinda excited for CV2. I played the first CV sometime after it released and then dropped it near the end cuz I was getting filtered by the duo boss. Came back to it late last year and enjoyed it despite it feeling a bit clunky compared to newer souls likes. I can appreciate that it was one of the first attempts at making a non Fromsoft souls game.

That being said I’m not sure how I feel about CV2. I wonder how innovative it’ll feel compared to the OG. I’m also disappointed that it’s basically a soft reboot and had nothing to do with CV1. I actually genuinely liked the ending of CV1 and hoped a sequel would build on narrative. However from the behind the scenes info the buddy system seems really refined and loot seems like it’s gonna play a bigger role in this game. Idk I’m like a mile 8/10 interested.

What are you looking for? It's way more story driven compared to souls and areas are linear, plenty of zones are merely destroyed city in a different flavour. Cathedral filters people cause it actually takes a bit of thinking to get through while looking rather unpleasant. Combat is OK but some weapons are better than others e.g. Halberd is just better than sword and bayonet, 2h sword is better than hammer. Companions are also rather imbalanced e.g. Io and Yakumo will carry you through the game while others tend to die frequently. The strength of the combat is that you can switch your "class" and skillset on the fly.

I'm told Bandai Namco is infamous for archaic online multiplayer architecture. CV was supposed to have a whole multiplayer component with PvP and invasions and everything, and most of the code is still left in the game. There was a mod that re-enabled a kitbashed version of it, which was jank as hell but sort of worked. At one point during the open beta, somebody managed to get two people to join their game at the same time, and the game knew how to handle additional party members on the UI.

I am moderately concerned for what multiplayer will be like in 2.

Especially with it being so long since the release of the original I think concerns are reasonable not only in regards to online features, but the sequel itself. Right now we can only really hope things are at least on par with the original and hope improvements are made. I really do hope they try to revive those scrapped co-op features though, but I know it's unlikely. I'm surprised there isn't a good soulslikeish game built around co-op and I do feel CV is the best candidate to fill the void the bosses are surprisingly good and handling more than one person even fromsoft AI struggles to deal with two people and has a stroke with three or more but CV handles two pretty well.

The first game was a bit of a wild lark in the first place; they didn't even think it was going to do as well as it did, so it probably didn't get the resources it needed. Things like crossplay are much more ubiquitous now, so maybe I'm being too dour about the game's prospects for good MP now that the corpos know it'll sell. I'd definitely love parties, but I'd also settle for just uninterrupted co-op where you could play from beginning to end with a friend. Some PvP and invasion system could be cool as well. As much as I live for PvP in souls and soulslikes I feel like CV is the one game where PvP would be a bad idea. I’d prefer not to keep a hyperoptimized blood code, blood veil, weapons, and gifts on. Iirc revenants were actually quite capable of handling the aragami initially, it’s just the Queen went full lost and the result was her dad locking her and every other revenant in vein to deal with her. Between dying wiping a revenant’s memories when they reform and basically only fighting lost for god knows how long while scraping by on the bare minimum amount of blood/blood beads they’re basically severely out of practice and need a serious kickstart to get back into the swing of things. Honestly I think they’ll be fine. Juzo had the right idea about taking down the barrier.

My issues with 1 were

Enemies could just decide at any point at all to not take any. They could do this mid-combo. So you use shortsword, do your combo into the cool teleport slash you can't cancel at all. They take the 3 hits, take 2 from it then just... decide they don't want to care and hit you mid attack. It sucked the fun out of the game. The only real counters to this were a buff you had to spam you don't get until mid-game that just makes it slightly less likely or using the greatsword

This is my main problem with her design. Thighs are slightly too wide, but that might be an illusion caused by jacket covering her torso. Neck is definitely too long though, presumably to make space for the gold collar she's wearing. Hope it's made somewhat shorter by release.
