weird post aside I always felt this thing is is liked for smash and zoomer nostalgia. gc it was the first nintendo console since the virtua boy I dropped, I had nes to the 64 and some handhelds and when this thing came out I was like no thanks

It had the strongest top 5 in video games history (Smash, F-zero GX, Soul calibur 2, RE4 and Metroid prime) + the last good Mario kart, the last good Zelda, Pikmin etc..

it was the last time Nintendo tried to compete directly with its contemporaries with modern hardware and first party killer apps, and the last time Nintendo had third party support that wasn't mostly gimped last-gen ports. Switchlets wouldn't know much about any of that

I had Gamecube only for the majority of that console generation, I got a Playstation 2 in 2005 for Resident Evil Outbreak after I got my first job. And it was worth it for sure. I always had great games to play. I consider that a good console.

It was pretty good, it only didn't get much support because the PS2 had a crazy hold of the market. I loved the controller, so comfy.
