I dont know the area you're in but if you are within driving distance of a Best Buy I would suggest just checking to see if you are able to place a reservation for an in-store pick-up from their website. I was able to secure a reservation on Friday (at least within the GTA here in Ontario) and it was ready for pick-up on Saturday and I had the entire weekend to pick-up the order. It looks like for the most part retail stores are getting stock replenished fast but that could just be a quirk of the greater toronto area. Make sure to check in the morning, as whatever stock they open up for reservation pick-up online clears up quick (the store I ordered from stopped allowing reservations before the afternoon, I placed my order at around 9am EST.)

Eh, personally no. The only "upside" of it is that you drive from one track to the next in grand prix (which some take issue with because those segments can be kinda long), and that the free roam is kinda fun to dick around and relax in (music while free roaming is also great)
But there's nothing to gain in the open world except challenges and stickers for your kart that are barely visible
I do think it helps with the chaos of 24 player races, where everyone is on a highway duking it out. And again the actual racing is still pretty damn good

The devs clearly designed the game to have inter connected races first, then after having to design a world around those portions decided to let players freely explore the game world.
I fully disagree about them feeling samey. There are tons of different roads and paths with neat features or gimmicks to them.

I would say that if HDR is important to you (and it should be for these consoles that support it) you want to look for a TV that has full support for HDR, which means a name brand TV like LG, Samsung, or Sony that is probably going to cost you at least $1k.

I'm using a 4k IPS monitor that supposedly supports 1000 nits of peak brightness in HDR, and while it can look pretty good on Windows 11 with HDR adjusted through "Windows HDR Calibration" tool, and my Oppo Blu-Ray player with it's brightness customizations, modern consoles only have 1 or two settings to set up HDR and for everything else you need to adjust the displays Tone Mapping. This type of setting is available for HGiG supported displays. Since my 4k IPS monitor doesn't support Tone Mapping HDR does not work properly on my PS5 nor on my Switch 2, but works just fine on PC.

Long story short, buy a display that you can confirm supports HGiG and/or Tone Mapping for proper HDR output.

Yeah I've been playing it on pc. It's a little casualized but not in a terrible way. A lot of stuff got streamlined for the better. If you like farming, city management, and dating sim with some basic action rpg combat, you'll like it. It's pretty approachable for newbies to the genre.

Did anyone here play Welcome Tour? I just finished it. Here are my thoughts

Is it fun? Sometimes. The mini games and tech demos are a great time, but I can see how getting into the nitty gritty details of everything may be good or bad depending on what you like.

Should it have been a pack-in title? Yes.

Is there $10 worth of gameplay and activities to do? Once again, depending on if you like knowing the ins & outs of your console. You can get $10 of enjoyment out of the minigames and demos. Hell, just having my parents try some of the stuff out and seeing their brains basically explode was great too.

I learned a few things, had fun with the minigames, and don’t feel like I was ripped off. I’d say it’s not worth all the negativity around it.

Same desu, a lot of times since PS5 has ready stock and sale promotion in my country, I look at it thinking what I get it for. the game is more movie-like, Final Fantasy is now some kind of action game and not turn base, other games are playable on PC.
Then I look at my switch, Mario is still a platformer, FE is still turn base, and pokemon is still Pokemon (despite quite a few times it runs like shit). It is like nothing has changed, you can most likely have the same experience you had the first time touching the series.

For Switch 2 my initial expectations are: can play Switch 1 games smoothly, the price is around 50-100$ more than OLED, and can play a somewhat new AAA game at a reasonable frame rate and graphics. They deliver it so for sure i will get it later

Link's Awakening is a great game but I don't really think the remake adds anything. The original is very charming with how big it feels despite the limited technology. The toybox look of the remake is charming too, but it just wasn't the same for me. It also feels kind of expensive for the content because the original had the excuse of being a cheaper game for a weak system. Basically, it feels huge for a Game Boy game but tiny for a Switch game.

If you like how it looks though, the game plays largely the same as the original and like I said, the original is great. The remake has smooth camera instead of a tile-based map though, which makes the world feel a little smaller in my opinion as the developers can't hide things as well.

I’m enjoying it so far…
>MKW has that nice “road trip” vibe even if it comes at the cost of Free Roam feeling empty at times. That said they could’ve made it a bit easier for oldfags to play classic MK-style races and Grand Prixs.
>Updated Switch 1 games are nice with some feeling like completely different games due said updates removing a TON of jank.
The only complaint I have is that my Switch 2 is affected by that Sleep Mode problem that some units have where trying to wake up the Switch 2 whilst in Docked Mode causes the entire system to freeze. What doesn’t help is that problem is so new and so underreported that I can’t figure out if it’s a problem with the system itself or just the dock.

Ya that docked thing happened to me once. I "think" maybe that it was caused by mario kart world crashing during sleep mode but im not sure. I think something similar happened one my switch one but that dock also really did not get along with my old tv.

It happens to me when ever I try to wake up the Switch 2 in the dock or I put the Switch 2 in the dock while it’s on, I can play in Docked Mode if I power down my Switch 2 and power it up while it’s in the dock but if the system enters Sleep mode I’m fucked unless I take it out of the dock and power it down.

The funny thing is that it doesn’t happen at all in Tabletop Mode or Handheld Mode, the system only has a fucky-wucky in Docked Mode.
