Watch Nintendo ban it. This already happened with the Neptunia Re;Birth games. They released on Playstation and Switch in Japan, western branch opts to only localize the Switch versions until Nintendo pulls the rug on them and they're forced to fall back on Playstation.

This is basically exactly the same situation as with the announcement of the western release of Coven: Labyrinth of Refrain. Fans had been asking for a western release for years, and when it happens they just leave Vita out of the platforms, AKA the one the game was made for and what the fans were asking for. It soured the whole thing for me personally, even though I really like the game. Bought it for 10€ when they were throwing the remaining copies out of their online store, would have given a Vita release a Day One buy.

Even Disgaea 6 got its definitive edition on all the other platforms except Switch, although in that case at least the original release was a physical one, but seeing it full price even after they slashed the prices of Complete versions since next to nobody fucking bought it felt hollow. Like their whole business model is designed to punish early adopters and active fans. 7 Complete was the one game I would have been ready to buy had it been a proper physical for Switch, but I guess I'm just about done. Don't want to deal with this shit anymore.

They did the same thing with D5 and it's complete version and it was almost the death knell of the IP.
D5 complete on switch did so bad they NIS had to file for bankruptcy and switch to shitty 3D models.

Dealing only in niche as fuck titles on top of shitty localizations was bound to catch up to them. The quality of their games just doesn't cut it, and I personally don't care for their switch to 3D with their latest title.
Had they spent some effort in making it look appealing I wouldn't mind as much, but they're clearly making the switch to 3D to cut costs.

This is a reminder that NISA HATES Disgaea and wants to see NIS go out of business so that NISA can buy up the properties and become it's own independent entity. They already have plans to become their own company and often handle localization for other game devs.

This new version of Disgaea 7 will be fine, NIS America has never run into issues with Nintendo and their approval process. They'll be fine...but yes, don't expect the Switch versions of those Utawarerumono games in the west.
