95% of the PS2 library was shovel-ware no one played. The only reason people look back fondly on it is because it came with a dvd player and it had a couple of great games that they replayed a million times when they were 12 years old.

No i didn't really play any of that, i mostly played star wars games and jak and daxter on my ps2. Someday I'll go back and try some stuff I missed.

the linear moviegame generation
the 2008 far cry 2 ubisoft sytle open world generation
THAT generation, anon
games got more QoL features but the core gameplay is like 20 years old at this point

I just don't see the argument that quest markers for open worlds too big for their own games was somehow a good thing that invalidated 40 years of prior games. Can you explain?

why does the number of bad games I dont play matter? I played DMC3 on it, I played Guilty Gear XX on it, I played tekken tag on it, I played vice city on it.
>AC2 >Midnight Club >SSX >Tekken Tag >Timesplitters >Unreal >Smugglers Run
These are good, of the ones I've actually played. Still a better launch lineup than PS3/PS4/PS5

no great games worth remembering 25 years later, but overall there's some fun to have here
definitely enough to tide the average gamer over until their outstanding holiday 2001 releases
Armored Core 2 was, and still is, a better mech game than 90% of the trash out there, from Xenoblade X to Gundam to Mechwarrior.
>OH MY SCIENCE, BUT WHERE'S THE HECKIN EDGY GRITTY REALISM? WHERE'S THE HECKIN TRANIME WAIFUS
As it turns out none of that is needed to make a good mech game.
