I know this game gets a lot of hate, but personally I think it's one of the best "Superman" games I've ever played.

It's just short sandbox experience where you can fuck around with a bunch of different weapons and abilities, jump or fly around the map, and save people from bad guys.

It's just simple dumb fun, and I think a Superman game like this could work great.

3-make it about not destroying property, not killing innocents despite supermans power, trying to deal with neemies. some phases where you just beat smaller fries not much difficulties and for the big stuff, stuff base on moral choices, other sperfuckers dangerous for supermans or for civilians, stuff that happens at the same times where you re not supposed to be able to save everyone yet you manage somehow, the danger mainly comes from others with the occasional kryptonite or superalien

4-emphasis on physics, good destruction, very long draw distance and short streaming loading times with tricks i guess impostors etc, maybe approximate fluid physics with water, redfaction/worms tier destruction of buildings, (which would require budget and won't happen)

5-actually gripping story(shonen style) and god tier soundtrack or it will bomb. heroic shit to encourage young kids to join the army and die for israel like justice league cartoon opening

6-have the balls to gfully exploit supermans power beyond fliying and laser eyes. super hearing, xray whatever, go far with that shi, advanced control maybe like gears for different flying speed. stuff that happens in space, maybe flying to others planet, purusing some fuckers, stuff in extreme situations in black holes with times involved, supernovas whatever. and maybe going near at some shit that has to do with his original planet, with all the mystery of these ancients aliens etc

I mean, by "lore" and "scaling" Dante and Kratos should be stronger than Superman, yet they have action games. Just tune Superman down and have him do all his OP wacky shit in cut scenes or prompts. Make his finishers like Bayonetta or Asura where he just punches guys off of planets or something. I guarantee if they gave Superman to a Japanese developer they'd make it work. Probably the only scenario where I would defend something like open world design but certainly not the sandbox mission checklist type. Just a big level with superman stuck in a time loop or something where the world gets destroyed after predetermined amount of time or sequence of events, and the player is expected to use superman's powers to sequence break fate and save everyone. This way superman can actually be super while facing a challenge of some kind.

I always wondered what it would be like if you played as Clark Kent as an investigative journalist, sneaking into facilities and using your superman powers to go undetected. Hover just above the ground to move silently, knock people on the back of the head to KO them, xray vision to see through walls, ice breath to make traps and freeze doors shut, laser vision to disarm cameras and traps.
Get the sensitive data then slip out through a window and fly away. Zip across town to stop a car chase for the cops, get back to your dingy apartment just in time to break a story that kicks LexCorp in the nuts

His powers are very outdated, half the superheroes have at least one of his powers like flight super strength or durability. You don't limit his powers and he has two health bars.

One represents the city's population, which goes down if people die or don't feel safe enough and leave town.

The second represents the city's public opinion of Superman. If this gets two low, Luthor campaigns in the city and vows to stop Superman.

You can use your Clark Kent persona to write articles to increase your public approval and convince people that the city is still safe.

The game has a linearish storyline where his Rogues' Gallery try to take down both bars and failing missions isn't a game over, just damages the bars and you can continue. Side missions will pop up at random that will slightly damage or repair the bars based on if you complete them in time.

The ultimate ending is determined by how successful you were on keeping your Bard filled all the time, with little to no damage giving the best one.
