The Coil Mjolnir + Puppet String combo carried me through the entire DLC. I just couldn't adapt to the faster, more dynamic weapons when I could just insta-break stances with a single charged L2 + charged R2. Mjolnir's defensive fable art also helped me a lot agains ArleKINO's second phase.

To me, it's not that waterfowl is an impossible move to dodge (it isn't), but rather that it's such an aggressive and common move that only has ONE effective way of countering it, that it destroys the flow of the fight and forces you into an unfun playstyle.
Whereas Arlecchino's Phase 2 opener, while highly aggressive and difficult to learn at first, is also counterable within the skills you've learned to hone throughout the game.

It's not that black and white. Some moves you can do more with dodges than parries. Like the type of combo enders which knock you back and out of the way when you parry them, where if you dodge you can stay in the bosses face and have enough time for a charged r2. A lot of combos also have imperfect tracking, so if you dodge to the right spot they'll keep swinging in the other direction while you can get free hits in. In both of those cases you're getting more stagger damage (and actual damage) out of dodging rather than parrying.
Basically someone who mixes in dodges with their parries can kill bosses faster than someone who only just parries.

This, in base game I feel that there was a variety of things that I can do. On DLC I feel like parry is the main tactic, rolling is shit, dashing away from the boss isn't valid strategy since every goddamn attack is tracking you. And I really don't like to parry in this game since you're just staying still right before the enemy and wait when he'll start his attacks. Sometimes boss do nothing, you also shouldn't do anything other that waiting to parry, your character's animations are so slow that you'll never be fast enough to deal a couple of attacks before boss start raping you with his swift strikes.
I really like the game but I feel like they just shouldn't ripoff souls game anymore. I feel like it could be more fun without stamina bar, or with dash that would actually let you get away from the range of attack instead of rolling into attacks because you have invincibility frames.

I was going through this shit on NG+3, lvl 267 and refunded the dlc after getting basically one shot by a standard alchemist mob that had enough hp to survive 3 charged heavies of a puppetaxe+exp. pickaxe.
