Drake Sword...home.

Drake Sword is a genuinely really good early game weapon if you're smart enough to drop it once you get access to elemental weapons (which is really early on) and don't upgrade it. The special R2 is actually kinda useful too.

Carried me through the first half of my first play through. Found it without a guide too. Now DaS is so easy for me I completely forgot it even existed until this thread reminded.

Unironically a good weapon ; a straight upgrade to basically just about everything you could have at this point. It becomes bad really fast, but it acts as a nice reward and crutch to help new players to get a feel for the game.

Light Crossbow. It's outclassed by the Heavy Crossbow, and all crossbows are outclassed by bows. Bows in general are just worse than using melee weapons or magic, so I'm pretty sure no one ever used the Light Crossbow.

No, low scaling weapons tend to just have outright high power and high requirements and usually beg for shit like being buffed.

Drake Sword is uniquely designed to be very strong early game but dogshit by the end. They've never done anything like it again.

Though perhaps this because they acknowledged that players like their little meta level spots and also want all builds to have some viability, hence why you don't see many weapons like Artorias Greatsword anymore.

Some of the most fun I have whenever I go for a slower playthrough is the period of time when unupgraded/+3 max weapons are still super useful, so I mess around with pretty much everything I get.
Wish they'd try a game without any kind of weapon scaling so I can do that for the whole game.

i started deprived and put no points in adp, honestly thus far ive had a great time rolling through or around the attacks of bosses like smelter demon
it just feels a lot more fun than dodging into attacks, and it even works in pvp as long as i land some nice hits and parries

Just do some science with it, I don't fuckin remember which weapons do and don't jibe well with the Warped L2. All other curved swords and katanas should be perfectly fine at least. Manslayer is a classic combo with it for blazing fast poison procs but you get that one pretty late

Also you could just Ascetic No-Man's Warf and get two of them, that'll certainly work.

Been playing with the Artorias swords and it's super fun. Having the extra int/fai utility is so nice too. First ds1 build I've done where I use all 3 magic types. The cursed weapons are kinda pointless for killing ghosts though since they can still stunlock you easily without transient curse.

ADP is a shitty stat precisely because it works like a dump stat for every build in DaS2, yes, even "Sword'n'Board" builds need it because there are some attacks that you literally can't block regardless of your shield or character stats and how quickly you can block is also governed by it. You want enough ADP to reach a minimum of 92 AGL but always aim for 100 AGL regardless of build.

I haven't played DaS2 PvP since... The release of SOTFS, DaS PvP has always been a crapshoot thanks to the shitty netcode that FROM uses along with there ALWAYS being glaring balancing in every game. Soul Memory also just ruins the entire multiplayer aspect for me in DaS2 and they could have gotten rid of smurfs by simply just adding a numerical value to all gear (and its upgrades) and then adding player level ontop of it and calling it "Power Level" and then splitting invasions/PvP into brackets, something like:

I stumbled into using it for my entire first ds1 run.
I thought the mechant that had it was an enemy and I instinctively attacked him.
I then picked it up, put a few points into dex and then never found anything better for my build
After a while I felt kinda locked into using it since I didn't level Strength at all and it felt like all other good weapons I had were strength weapons.

Iframes were always a retarded concept that only existed to mask shitty hitboxes. If you actually try to roll out of an attack in a sensical way, you get hit anyways ("""shockwaves"""). Instead you're supposed to use rolls to toggle godmode and magically phase through the enemy weapon. Doesn't even fucking matter which direction you're rolling towards so you might as well roll into the damage.

Main hand broken straight sword reduces stamina costs for some weapons below their initial cost. washing pole is especially good with this. Slap a status effect on it to make up for the damage.

Not powerstancing specifically but wielding two weapons with different physical damage types is very useful because of how generous 2 is with left handed movesets
Avoid dual reapers and halberds, it looks fucking stupid and has giant stamina costs. Some unique movesets like Santier and Yorgh are also gutted when powerstancing.

The light, heavy, and arbalest are all extremely oppressive in 3's PvP for their ability to instantly put out an aoe hitbox at range. The trick is to un-target and manually aim your shots.
