SAGAFRA rules say that if you work during a strike, either as a scab or otherwise then you get blacklisted forever. SAGAFRA rules also say that if a company hires Union VAs then it can't hire anyone that's non-Union.

The reason so many non-union VAs are striking alongside them is because if they don't they're at a severe risk of being blackballed out of the industry forever. Most places are gonna be union places, and if you can't ever be hired in any Union places then your career is gone.

I think as well, all of this is moot unless they change the writer, they must absolutely change the MSQ writer I have seen on Famitsu interviews the most recent ones for the patches they're now refusing to name who the writers working on FF14 are but referring to them as "Scenario A writer, Scenario B writer" whereas when the game was held in higher regard they would always be named and in other departments like the music or raids they name the devs like Mr Ozma on the raids, or Soken on the music and they name Soken's team by name as well instead of saying "music team A music team B".
It's obviously to mitigate backlash against the writers.

I read an interview around the time of 7.1 that Yoshida had to give the outline for 8.0 to the cinematic team the deadline being December of last year so whatever the setting is, it's already been decided so it'll be interesting to see which direction he'll take it.
Now the two big hints he gave which I suspect one will be the path the game will go than the other, one was Shogun he was talking about taking 8.0 back to Hingashi due to saying there was a war waging there his words and having the Wol become a Shogunite type figure. Now I think that plot point is unlikely for reasons I won't delve here for brevity.

The second idea and the one which I think is more likely is the mulitverse that Yoshida spoke of last year and the reason why I think his words on making FF14 a multiverse is most likely is due to what FF did with Rebirth making it into a multiverse so they already have experience and it's already an idea floating around the office at Square Enix, they're also probably thinking back to the popularity of the Marvel movies and this is Square Enix they're always 5 years late to a trend. It'll also open the doors to bringing Emet and Venat back, or popular characters to have them always around, if I had to invest my pension fund on this being the direction of 8.0 or the Shogun idea I would bet on the multiverse will be the theme of 8.0.

for some reason dawntrail was everybody's brand new first experience with a character serving their thematic and literary purpose and then sidelining or removing themselves in the larger continuing plot, heedless of the number of characters that have done that before them and will after them. wuk lamat didn't bow out similarly to aymeric after the events of 7.0, her own rise to prominence within her own culture, instead her relevance plummeted like a stone and she's being abandoned. wuk lamat most reminds me of vriska from homestuck in the sense of everyone who reads the story either liking her a great deal or completely loathing her with an enormous audience off to the side that couldn't give less of a fuck about her specifically, but vriska was also supposed to be a mary sue parody that andrew hussie ended up taking completely seriously in on-and-off waves while declining to joke about her the way he used to in earlier years ("fat vriska, we will be married at seaworld" etc) and wuk lamat both hasn't been in the story long enough and won't be in the story long enough to really warrant that kind of attention, so the fact she got that kind of attention is very strange to me

Endwalker was worse than Dawntrail in terms of plot. Shadowbringers was good in a vaccuum but at the end of the day Shadowbringers is what killed the game, the plot was at its most interesting during the Stormblood patch content and Shadowbringers derailed everything and the game genuinely never recovered. Every interesting plot point was abandoned, every threat neutralized in a ridiculous neat and tidy way, every mystery handwaved away as an Ascian machination. We can't even fight a trial against a random monster anymore without using Azem's wack-ass crystal to call for backup.

The thing about people claiming Dawntrail is Stormblood, they're grasping hard at straws because they don't want to admit the game is in massive decline due to how much Dawntrail sucked the fat one.

Stormblood base expansion didn't grow the population of the game, but it didn't tank it either the numbers were flat and then began to rise through post patches.

Dawntrail has tanked from 7.0 at a character count of 1.4million to now 950,000 characters per lucky bancho and Player Scope scraping has the numbers even lower, with each each the numbers of people quitting has only increased.
Dawntrail per each patch is not growing the player base, it's not stable and holding the player base at a flat number, each patch has seen a decline which was not seen in Stormblood.

Plus, let's be brutally honest here Dawntrail has nuked 5-6 years worth of the player base, of reputation, of growth.

FFXIV needed to end at EW and make XIV-2 or whatever mainline number they want it to be.

Any game, even an MMO, needs a refresh once a fucking decade and I don't think this is some wild or crazy god damn concept to throw out there. WoW needed a WoW 2 however many years ago, XIV needed an XIV-2 where DT is instead.

The coding problems, the "we can't really wring anything else out of this setting" problems, the absolute completely different gameplay between ARR/HW and the rest of the game, problems in the early game with player retention because it's quite literally a "It gets *slightly better* gameplay wise 20 hours from the start" type of issue where the only thing they could do to "fix" it was to make it fucking F2P.

A rank hunts have been broken for the greater portion of a decade or an outright decade now, old systems like command squadrons were remade with trusts then remade again for Duty Supports, high player count absolutely eviscerates the entire game by fucking with not only the gameplay but the literal graphical playability since the engine doesn't handle it for shit, it's in the phase of "post game" story wise for a FF where the "Attack" command is all 9999s and there's no real way to change that hence why there will never be another long term antagonist, this shit was on PS3 which ended compatibility with PS4 and now it's reaching the point where the PS4 version will end compatibility for PS5.

Holy fuck, just restart us on another reflection as their version of a WoL and move on or truly start over from scratch with only the overarching basic themes still being retained. Feel like I'm taking fucking crazy pills over here.
