What are you trying to draw?
As always, better accuracy and line confidence comes with time/mileage - the more you draw, the better your lines will be. It's a gradual thing, don't beat yourself up if you don't see instantaneous improvement.
That said, you can get smoother, more stable results using your elbow or shoulder instead of your wrist. If your tablet/paper/whatever isn't big enough to do that comfortably, try quick, solid strokes from the wrist. The idea is that fast, decisive movement can help eliminate shakiness that you could otherwise offset with your elbow/shoulder.
Tracing can be helpful for learning purposes. If you're really struggling to nail an angle, tracing over the ref a couple times to get a better feel is perfectly fine. Layering your lines over the ref can also help you see how close/off you are. Obviously just make sure your final work is all done by your own hand.

Size of the line determines which portion of the arm to use. Wrist moves in a natural quarter circle, so the closer your pencil is to your hand the smaller the curve will be. Using your wrist or finger tip movements is fine for minuscule detail. good forward thinking, but don't think of it so much as tracing here. think of it more like practicing lines and curves, not unlike doing line and circle drills just to train your dexterity.
It seems like you've started somewhat recently so you just need to practice more by any means to develop the drawing muscles at this point. drawing like we do is completely unnatural and these muscles don't move the way we want them to until we train them properly!

also if you're using a normal school-taught handwriting grip, try to explore others. Finding the one that worked for me was like night and day for curves

It may help to visualize the way the muscles attach to the bone to get the curve right. The calf muscles take hold behind the knee giving it a bulge that stretches to a straight leading to the heel of the leg. You are abstracting this curve away and drawing a straight with only a dimple for the heel bump.
Even if a part is relatively straight with a slim model like this, implying the convex or concave curvature of a limb subtly is important to convey the depth of it properly
