Was basically ever17 without the bloat, excellent mystery buildup throughout with a small touch of western edge, just enough not to lose the otaku anime soul. Play Parascientific Escape. It's a trilogy (only the first two games are worth playing because the overall plot sucked) with a focus on escape rooms and the first game even takes place on a cruise ship. The caveat is this is a MTL series on the 3DS.
