I'm having fun but hope 6 is more like 4. I enjoy the characters in azuma and moving around the world, and the building/farming mechanics, but there really isn't a purpose to doing 90%of the stuff in the game.
Farming shits out gold easily, you win most contests easily, you don't really need equipment when you can spam god items, you're flooded with resources so managing a farm or food isn't really a thing.
I'm not saying the previous games were a pinnacle of rpg design or anything, but there was a nice flow and purpose to the other parts of the game.
This one just feels like a comfy dating Sim and village builder.

So, before i buy, how is it compared to RF4 in terms of:

Because teleports are free and instant, the only time you wouldn't want to is mid-dungeon and you can go the entire length of these "dungeons" using nothing but tool attacks and only run out right at the end where you're greeted by (surprise) another RP lantern

The 4 seasons story is incredibly short and gatekeeps a lot of the early QOL relics and recipes. Honestly, even if you weren't trying to rush it you're going to feel rushed anyway.

Collect all frog statues you come across, they have useful recipes. The shrines are even better.
Upgrading gear early on is a waste of time because you WILL find a new weapon/armor recipe immediately after that BTFOs your old upgraded weapon.

The characters moving in seem abrupt in general. In RF4 for example, when you rescue someone, they get scenes of the villagers taking them in, yet people like Murasame or Ikaruga just kind of appear in the village suddenly and no one comments on this. I can't even tell if most of the characters have homes. I figure they do and I just don't notice besides some obvious ones, but that's a problem the devs created for themselves by not having any building interiors or real villager schedules. They don't even walk places, I notice them teleporting around more often.

There's a part in RF4 where you go to rescue Leon, and they emphasize there's no rescue coming if you faint. And if you die, you get sent to the title screen instead of Jones. A previous RF game did something like this too iirc.
