Already did Strange Journey and Paper Sorcerer, Refrain's better. It's entirely possible to like two dungeon crawling games for different reasons.

EO1 didn't show pitfalls, and didn't even give you enough icons on the map to properly chart them, though sensible people would just draw walls along the path. EOU are over hated despite their big quality of life adjustments like that.

One part is that gacha games are simplified/mobile friendly versions of already existing genres, which get bogged down by power creeping over time and long-time grind.
Second part is that getting key things necessary to beating game's challenges successfully requires spending premium currency on lootboxes without much guarantee that they will get what they want.
Third part is that income of premium currency is fairly low and it can also be exchanged for other advantages, like performing more actions per day or drastically shortening massive in-game timers, which all leads encouraging players to spend real money to acquire it.
But really people want to just shit on things just for the hell of it. Or they're angry that their developer stopped making "real", one-time purchase games, sometimes with expansions or DLC, and are stuck maintaining a gacha. Or they do it just to feel superior, your call.
