Anyways I didn't like that sword. You can't do the final normal attack after just the flurry, you have to do the swordwave. You will eat shit while using that attack. The retarded amount of damage it gets when buffed with feathering is the only reason it's even slightly useable.

There's nothing wrong with having locked off items in one playthrough depending on your choices made, but the answers are tied to the lore and themes of the game. Dual swords makes weapon wielding enemies a joke since a majority of it's attacks have clash which reduces damage taken, gives skyward might, and let's you continue your attacks. Slap a HP drain effect on them and you can face roll any weapon wielders.
Axe is good against slow enemies or small enemies that can be knocked down with it's charged heavy since you can combo that into it's light attack ender which generates 3 skyward might.
Long swords and spears are the general purpose weapons though long swords are easier to use.
One handed swords start out bad at first due to bad stats on their tree, becomes okay once you have good alacrity spells, and then broken with the final boss' spell.

I found Tiger, the big general, and the final boss the hardest. The other late game bosses I had no issue with. I think to some extent it varies from person to person as to what bosses you’ll find challenging. Some have said the Bo Sorcerer is really hard but I got her in two tries. It’s the knockdown mechanic which filters me. I could have high vitality and multiple healing items going into a fight. I could be doing great and barely using any healing items. I could have the boss down to the last 10% of health. But one bad knockdown, a failure to time my roll as I stand up, and it would often be over. In Sekiro and Lies of P, you're not really dealing with punches and kicks interrupting your parrying. Sekiro also has no cooldown on parrying and you can just spam and win. Wuchang is the only good non fromsoft game since AI Limit.

And the last good from soft game was Bloodborne.

I think the next patch is taking a long time because those AI adjustments they said is tough to balance without making the AI completely brain dead while also making their movesets interesting or challenging. Right now bosses especially are only hard because of how relentless they are vs to how slow Wuchang's recovery animations are. Making them too forgiving and you end up with Stellar Blade where bosses take up to 5 seconds just waiting for you to do something before they react.

Regarding the lore, dont read unless you finished the game

In the true ending you enter the realm of truth which just means the real world. Feathering and all that shit doesnt exist there. The game also implies at several turns that whatever world they are in is an illusion or at least not the real world (storytellers poem and Bo Sorcerors conversation). I'm not familiar with asian religions but it does seem like we are stuck in a sort of Limbo or dream.l but how does the Ring of Samsara tie into this? Is the realm we inhibit during the game just a temporary state before all the people there pass on to the cycle of death and rebirth?

Wuchang is hard because you can't just dump stats into endurance or vitality and face tank the game. There's a mod that gives 999 to all your stats and it only gives Wuchang about 1900 hp. That's just double your hp at lv 100 at end game. If you're playing badly Honglan or Ming General will still kill you in 3-4 hits.
Meanwhile compare this to ER, where never mind mimics, you can just use greatshield to absorb damage. Failing that you have other tools like barrier shield, one shot ash of war builds, and status build ups. In Wuchang, the bleed equivalent, Poise Break, barely tickles the boss' HP bar.
As a game, it is definitely more demanding of player skill than other soulslikes imo. You can't just smash your face against the brick wall repeatedly and hope it breaks in this game. Like people still complain about great centipede not knowing that he only seems tanky because it's a tutorial for elemental weakness.

The game is more build based if anything. Dual swords let's you faceroll weapon users due to the absurd number of clashes it has. The difference between going all in against a damage type and wearing whatever can also be as much as 2x damage.
Most soulslikes tend to design bosses to be beaten with any build, but wuchang has bosses that can be a pain without the right weapon, such as axe vs anything that doesn't let you land the last light hit for 3x might.
I think a lot of people just aren't abusing respec even though it's literal free. Too condition by other soulslikes with limited respec I guess.

i can verify that too. i keep my ps5 offline most of the time. i played through 1.0 version and it was fine outside of crappy performance, ugly textures and some text issues where it would sometimes display chinese characters. considering what i’ve read in these threads the crappy performance and texture issues are a problem in the patched version too. so yeah it seems like the based commies actually delivered a functional physical copy. i own both this and stellar blade physically so i can always go back if they make any retarded changes. which they did with sb iirc. in a world where so many westoid games require day one downloads in order to function it makes me happy when someone still cares enough about those of us that don’t think an internet connection should be mandatory for playing a game.

nta but it's also likely because he holds the 3rd piece of the research notes that Feng Yao later finds in chapter 4 and allows He Youzai to create the 2 halves of the samsara. Mind you the plot is kick started because Wuchang's father, was the first to resurrect his child using this method, even if he ended up being killed by his own son.
