That's pretty much it. From her kit in the original the only things that's missing are making her 3rd active skill spammable, her Zenith/Rose Crush buff that gives defense, stamina and attack speed, and her alternate smash attacks. In the original every smash combo she had has an alternate attack done by delaying pressing right click for a half second or so. In Defying Fate those are her smashes by default, and I just don't see them bringing back her default smash attacks.

Not really.
With the exception of Fiona having a dedicated taunt skill (which was added WAAAAAAAAAY later on), the original didn't really do the whole "tank dps healer" trinity. All other means of aggro control involved manipulating enemy AI, like somehow spamming sit on Titan would cause him to aggro on the person doing it, or running around in one of the corners of Lakoria's map would cause her tail attack to focus on that character for all but the last hit.

I guess I misunderstood, I thought "fatal attacks" were the "E" prompt after a full stun bar.
Remember that before rise (or maybe ignition, dont remember exactly) stats were on the small end and lann's crits couldnt be minmaxxed, so if the choice ends up between making a big deal about stats so lann can guarantee glides or just keeping them as combo extenders, ill choose the extension every time.

the problem is that nothing in this game so far has given you a reliable ability to kite, meaning that the difference becomes:

The problem is that it doesnt happen.
The pre-alpha had that issue for a few attacks, but this test doesnt. The closest thing is emuloch's weird sexy pose role where he throws the blade down slower than you expect.

I will say that there is something weird going on with hoarfrost hollow. In the prealpha chieftain did that "dinner plate spin" shit where he did not need to commit to his attack direction (but you do) and so you couldnt really position against him, and emuloch was even worse, but in the alpha chief now commits to his attacks, while emuloch still does that shit, along with one of the other fights (dont remember which, maybe the foreman?)

My first impressions after playing the demo is that it's just a really generic action game only somewhat aping random things from soulslop. There's no stamina meter so you can just spam attacks and dodges as much as you want and for some reason you have those abilities that are underpowered relative to their literal ONE HUNDRED SECOND cooldowns. The skill trees are also absolutely pathetic. Fiona is for counter
Lann for dodging and playing super aggressive.

I like the idea, but it just doesn't seem worth it over shield counter unless you go for TA autism.
The only issue shield counter has is that it seems to prematurely end a boss' stagger window. It seems like using heavy attacks ends a boss' recovery window prematurely.

Her light attack combo is pretty fast, so when there is an opening you can usually just do the full combo.
You can't really get in a kick between most combos so you have to deflect everything and hope there is no delayed or unlockable attacks.
Might be decent on Blood Lord, because he has no attack windows, but the time between his attacks might be to big.
I tried it on Emuloch which wasn't good with all the unlockable attacks mixed in. I don't think Tyrant is much better.

The damage of your combos increase the longer they are, fiona should be going for her amaranth kick (combo 4), literally every other combo is "oops, I dont have time for that", followed by a cancel+block (which isnt in this game yet) or a deflect + smash combo.
Ultimately you should aim for an amaranth just before an enemy hits, deflect, and get a second amaranth out for free. Fiona's DPS is highly technical in the original and while not as robust as of now in DF, its still the most technical of the current cast.

The only bosses I have difficulty getting kicks on are blood lord and emuloch, who both force me to use deflect even for shorter combos.

Nobody is slow, pre-ignition update all the vindictus characters felt like this, go back to the first game and unequip everything but the free trainer gear from the recruit npc, youll see what 0 attack speed looks like

Block and dodge are likely separate because of the unreal engine's presets and/or controller support. Unlike the rest of you I actually sent in feedback instead of whinging, so im sure it will be addressed in the future, as the fixed a great deal of problems from the pre-alpha based on feedback. The thing about this is Stellar blade in relation to Vindictus, or any other game that does monetization like this (or even subscriptions as it was in the old days) is that the former is a quick thrill. Their devs made the game with a defined start, middle, and end in mind. In the case of the latter, it's designed with the intent to be on going. There's a start and an end in mind, but the middle is a blank space they can pad with anything they can think of to keep the game going on for years.
You play Stellar Blade 15 years later and it'll be the same game, with nothing new to do in it. As evidenced from all the old fags in this thread, you pick up Vindictus 15 years after the game had come out and there's shit for them to do that wasn't there when they first played it.

The dark souls comparisons are annoying and retarded but unfortunately that is the world we live in at this point, everything and anything is going to be compared to it. Even retards in this thread are doing it The primary reason the game struggles with new players is because it presents such a braindead level of gameplay to every new player that tries it. Hell, you can't even really enjoy new characters as a veteran player because you always have to slog through the same old Rise content that doesn't require a single ounce of thought every time. The level skips they do help get through some of it but the last time I did that it only got me up to season 2 which is still about as easy and braindead to play at this point with all of the gifts they give you.
I don't think every MMO doing it is a valid reason to not complain about it, this shit has ruined about every one of these korean MMOs I've ever played because they all eventually do it to help maintain the long-term playerbase. Defying Fate is not the same game. Defying Fate is like the game was before they made all of the early content a joke so you can get through it faster. In the MMO vindictus you played through essentially the same content and story you are now in Defying Fate and it was a similar level of difficulty, though maybe still a bit easier back then. Things in Defying Fate still feel chunkier than I remember. At a point in the past (like 8 years ago?) they redid all of that to keep up with new content and now they gift you gear and nerfed all of the enemies so it's easier to get through.

You aren't going to one shot trash gnolls in Defying Fate. It's not balanced like that.

Its absolutely provable that Han Jaeho, the second director was responsible for the goonification (and casualization) of the game, In season one the holy wing half plate was considered risque, and male and female characters wore the same sets of armor, it was not until season 2 when vella was released that they started making sex specific armor and releasing pornographic outfitters.

Thats probably because the game was clearly designed with the original duo in mind, which is why they arent sure if they can make evie work and havent even mentioned kai, I think delia was added because she's the closest thing to the original ludo and they needed something else in the game.
