I know they're easily moddable, but so was the Wii and to this day that console's cheaper and easier to find than the GameCube, so what gives?
Where I'm from a used New 3DS XL costs about as much as a new OG Switch, and the prices are STILL increasing.

My main one is the Majoras Mask one. I got it a few years ago because I dropped the red one and the screen cracked. It fucking pains me so much to this day. I loved that one like you wouldn't believe. I got the MM one off of Ebay. It was used, but in excellent condition and I even got the priced lowered a bit.

All of them, theoretically.
You can emulate the NES/SNES versions of the first three games.
4, 5, 6 and 9 are all on the DS, you don't even need emulation for those.
7, 8 and 11 all have native 3DS ports.
I know 10 got a 3DS port but Nintendo canned 3DS online a while back so it's pretty much worthless.

It doesn't work for all games sadly so for the R button you will need to reach in. But the games that do support it, its my favorite way to play them. Uprising feels SO much better with it. Just having that extra bulk and triggers for shooting makes it so much better. And the other games that don't use the shoulder buttons a lot that dont support CPP its still very comfy to hold and play it that way. If you can find one for not an insane price I say go for it! I got mine when it was still new and retail price or a tiny bit higher I think its worth it.

Dual IPS were as expensive as a new one back in the day, now that all 3DS are expensive they are still as expensive as they were before so I went for it. Totally worth it.

3d is overhated. I agree it is pointless in gameplay terms, but it makes the games look sharper and crispier, and deepness is just cool. Also eye tracking in N3ds solves most of the problems. If this technology were popular by this time we should have already gotten better 3d screens...

That's because the OG 3ds had inferior 3d experience. some kind of felt it was borderline gimmicky with the narrow viewing angle for the effect to work. Also had to hold it the handheld quite still, which made long play-sessions with 3d an actual pain.
However, the *new* lineup had that face-tracking/stabilization software, does the job very well. You can actually get comfortable while playing in 3d.

Even tried Bravely Default but decided not to get it after finishing the demo. I liked Kid Icarus and Senran Kagura, at least. The DS, to me, was a more enjoyable system.

Seems like a good place to post this: I have an n3dsxl I bought second hand about 3 years ago & it has this problem where sometimes it boots normally, and other times only the power light comes on. I googled it & the consensus seemed to be that it was related to the wifi card so I took the system apart and made sure the wifi card connection was secure but the system still randomly doesn't boot normally. I ended up hacking my original launch 3ds instead because I was worried about the XL's reliability. Does anyone here have any ideas for a permanent fix to this problem? If you enjoy tactics games, then Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia is god tier. Easily my favorite in the franchise. Metroid Samus Returns is also an excellent Metroid-vania. Dragon Quest 4-9 are available natively in English on the DS/3DS. Take your pick, they're all fantastic traditional JRPG's.

There's something for everyone on the 3DS and it truly excels in so many different genres. I'd definitely take a look through the thread and see what others have recommended

For VNs the obvious rec is Virtue's Last Reward (and 999 if you haven't played it). Though frankly you're better off playing one of the ports cuz the framerate on 3ds is dogshit and saving at the wrong spots will corrupt/softlock your save.

Why do people shit on FE Awakening so much? I bought a 3DS specifically because of that game, as someone who played the fuck out of the GBA games and Path of Radiance. I remember playing the fuck out of it because it felt like a return to form after the DS games, which to date are some of the ugliest video games ever made. Conquest was even better.

Waifu's were always a part of the series but waifufaggotry EXPLODED after awakenings, and the child characters didn't help any. It made sense within the context of awakenings, but Fates having them throw the babies into different dimensions where time moves differently just so they could age in a matter of weeks and join the army? That was retarded.

There was a legit timeskip in 4. I'm sure the child characters in Fates would be much more well received if they were introduced after a timeskip as opposed to magic outworld gates fighting with their parents.
Like I said, I think the entire plot of Awakening centering around time travel, with the main time traveler being Lucina, Chrom's daughter, makes plenty of sense for other child characters to follow makes perfect sense, but it was very clearly done purely for matchmaking autism in Fates.

Well, being able to reclass until you get any skills you want + max stats and full 20/20 lv.40 units certainly trivializes the game. Personally I'm not a Lunatic+++ iron man run autist but for people who are, they probably hate things that make the game easier, and those same people fucking despise Sacred Stones (which was awesome) so it all kind of tracks.
And I wouldn't claim it was a "radical departure", it seemed decently par for the course, I'm just saying they introduced or popularized a lot of things that have a negative impact on other games.
Instead of an SRPG with pairing and affinity options, Fates and Three Houses was basically a different game almost half focused on romance. Three Houses was even half in a school like some shitty romcom, though Three Houses has a whole host of other issues because matchmaking shit.

I still have my regularr 3DS XL and my New 3DS XL somewhere in a closet. I wanted to keep the New 3DS since it's such a unique piece of hardware that can't be emulated 100% the same, but whatever, I think I'd rather get some money than hoard a handheld I likely won't really ever use much ever again.

I have a few 3DSs and a couple N3Ds that...I just don't like that much. It's cool for some 3DS games but any other emulation of 2D games is ruined by that 2nd screen being useless and the Dpad being in a stupid spot.
I just use my GB and GBA everdrives and DS r4 card, I barely even consider playing a 3DS game.
