Why is there no new MMORPGs anymore?
I'm getting sick of WoW and FFXIV.
Is there just no money in the genre anymore?

Most new MMORPGs tend to die within their first year. Stick to established classics that have stood the test of time.

MMORPGs are a dead genre.
Not to mention private servers do a better job at keeping the game fresh.

MMOs are a winner takes all genre, it's not like other games where you can have multiple be successful.

Outside of wow/ff14 and to a lesser extent ESO, you will not find much people.

Go private servers for new experiences, or else it's gacha city for you, sweetheart.

there are no new MMOs because MMOs arent fun. people played mmos when games and social media were still primitive. but now we can buy really good games for like ten bucks, and make friends in free games like Fortnite where I dont have to spend 10 hours farming for loot and XP so I can get strong enough to farm more zones for loot and XP. were also not kids anymore and have jobs so i dont want my games to feel like another job

The vast majority of MMO players only play one long term, and have already decided that something like WoW or XIV is going to be their forever MMO and that they're not looking for anything new, if they ever quit their main MMO then they typically quit MMOs as a whole. Pulling people away from those games to a new forever MMO is almost an impossible task. The MMO industry needs serious innovation and to stop playing it so safe, playing it safe is how we ended up with a million dead wow clones.

Also to add, I think the only kind of MMO players that are still chasing the dragon are korean MMO players, but now it's gotten to the point where even they are so jaded by typical greedy gook tactics like p2w and pay for convenience that any new korean MMO that gets announced is met with millions of sighs across the world because everyone already knows it's going to have the same shit that kills or stagnates every korean MMO in the west.

Because gachas replaced them as the infinite number go up genre. MMOs could carve their own niche back by going full on isekai lifestyle, like reprising what SWG tried to do, but they won't.

Bots are always quick to post the dumbest takes in every thread that mentions MMOs in the OP.

I literally only care about MMOs if there's a loli/hebe race I can play as. Sadly modded xiv is the only populated one
