The only game I got stuck in and had to refer to a guide was Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers back in like 1994 or 1995, but I was also 12 years old at the time.
The game guide was a fucking novel that turned out to actually be a pretty good book.

They're self-inflicted wounds, really. It took Claude several iterations before he even got his first badge (the first Claude didn't even get out of the starting house).

Gemini had a promising start but it fell apart when it tried to enter the Pewter museum from the side for 10 hours straight and then threw in the towel (the LLM refused to play further). Rather than making changes to the harness and reset the run Gemini was given more and more assistance as the playthrough went on. The strange thing is that subsequent runs have even more assistance, like Gemini now has access to an agent that can program and run code. Just why. It's so far detached from just a LLM playing a children's game now.

From what I remember not really. It just wasn't using any of its tools any more until the prompt was changed. Then it got going again. It's actually quite reminiscent of the vending machine benchmark.
