And then Chivalry II made defending yourself much simpler, removed 95% of the ballerina/animation abuse, and delivered larger and more chaotic clusterfuck fights. And on top of that because the matches are huge one unkillable turbo-autist doesn't have that much impact on the game, individual players are less likely to repeatedly encounter him and if the other team is on average managing to outplay the autist's team sheer weight of numbers piling into the objective(s) almost always carries the day. The fire pot ability that some classes have also works as an excellent "fuck you" button so lower skill players do have ways to fight back.

Mordhau was simply never going to be able to compete with Chiv II in terms of popularity, they fell into many of the same traps as the original Chiv while Chiv II was designed to actively avoid the problems of the original game.

Mai players have to be the most braindead players I think I've ever witnessed in a fighting game. I know people always stereotype those who play certain characters but Mai players are honestly the most ridiculous I've ever seen. I don't understand how they can get to diamond merely by running away, throwing fans and occasionally running in to grab and reset. It's baffling. And the cherry on top is when you figure out how to beat the strat they rage quit. Its literally all of them. Every single one. Every single time I play against one. It's actually crazy.
