Forced Reset Trigger & Super Safety General /frtssg/
General to discuss fully semi-automatic devices, such as the forced reset trigger (FRT) and super safety (SS).

You've heard of FRTs, but what's a "super safety"?
>like an FRT, but a different mechanism (the safety)>cheaper than an FRT>$90-$120 for full drop-in kit>3D printable or CNC (recommend stainless/4140)>most are 3 position cross-bolt safety>left is safe, right is semi, middle is fully semi-automic>Atrius now shipping the only super safety that operates like a normal AR safety selectorHow it works:
https://youtu.be/KIxsnh2fFTo
To make an AR-15 super safe you'll need:
>M16 style/"full auto" bolt carrier group>H3 or H2 buffer weight (will do 600-750 rpm of 5.56)>"low shelf" lower receiver>SS>any AR trigger so long as you give it an SS cutLast thread:
>>63738765
is FRT an open technology? Does it mean anyone can make it?
What's the point?
>to defeat tyranny
you didn't use your guns already and this won't make you start
>fun
full auto isn't fun, it's very inaccurate and expensive and loud and gassy and will cook your barrel quickly
>to own leftists
they will give these same inventions to their pets to terrorize you and your family with, doesn't seem like a wise plan
>>63828284Rare Breed Triggers has 2 patents. One specifically for their trigger and one for the forced reset utility. However, a lawanon last thread,
>>63810878, thinks their utility patent is weak. We'll find out during the RBT v Deez Nutz lawsuit.

I just watched the James Reeves video with the RBT guys. The comments were full of people attacking the RBT guys for not trying to fight for FRTs in handguns, as well as for suing the makers of something called a "super safety". Personally I think the heat was a bit overboard. The 2A community needs to know when to take a win. The FRT is a win. There's no need to utterly lambast the guys who spent millions in court fees to legalise the FRT.
can someone PLEASE create a FRT/SS for the TP9
>>63829214>There's no need to utterly lambast the guys who spent millions in court feesDidn't they immediately lose all goodwill they'd built up when they sued those companies? Not an American so I haven't followed too closely but I hate IP law and those who abuse it
>>63829594The patent system is potentially exploitable, but it's in the constitution as much as the 2nd amendment is. Apparently the super safety is legally distinct from the FRT, so it should pass in the courts. RBT is potentially engaging in "lawfare", where you use frivolous lawsuits to run competitors out of business with legal fees.
>>63829280somebody already makes one, you have to use a slip trip
no i dont have the link
yes it does exist
trust me bro
>>63829667>The patent system is potentially exploitableIt's a system based on exploitation. The whole idea of intellectual property is absurd. These days most people know this, and it only persists because corporations depend on it.
>>63829935You're completely wrong. Patents incentivise invention by guaranteeing that an invention can be monetised by its creator for 20 years, either by them selling it or a license to make it. Places like China are devoid of new inventions precisely because everyone has been conditioned to copy others, due to a lack of patent law.
>>63828264 (OP)is this the "hearing protection act" thread or is this a completely different thread with a completely different goal than the "hearing protection act" thread?
>>63830001>Patents incentivise inventionEven if this were true, they'd still be nonsensical and morally wrong. But the reality is that people invent things all the time without patents. Almost any "guy in a garage" sort of invention was made with no intention of patenting it. That includes many of the most important inventions in history.
>due to a lack of patent lawIn fact, China claims the opposite. They love to show off their high number of patents as proof of their innovation. But since we both know China isn't very innovative, all they've really proven is that patents don't incentivize innovation.
>>63830094They are morally right because they provide credit to creators and incentivise capitalism. Guys in sheds aren't covered by patent law unless they actually try to sell something that they made. You're being misleading about China. They don't enforce patent laws at all.
>it's NOT an inventory or manufacturing bottleneck
>its processing and fulfillment that is delayed
>we swear bro
>HOMIES
>JET PLANES N SHIEET
>Scam!?? I'll cancel your order rn
>Take no shit.
>2A COMMUNITY
>Shipping every day bro we swear
>HYPEBEAST MAG DUMPS
>TFW TYLER DURDEN
>Keep the vibes high tonight.
>>63830210>Guys in sheds aren't covered by patent law unless they actually try to sell something that they made. That's false. If a company owns a patent for something, it's illegal for a guy in a garage to make a thing for personal use if it infringes on the patent. If the guy in the garage wants to said thing, then by US law, he must buy the patented device from the patent holder. Themoreyouknow etc.
>>63828311>>to defeat tyranny>you didn't use your guns already and this won't make you startStill unvaxxed
Anyone else get an update fron atrius yet? Sent then an email also week but still no reply. I'm sure they're busy but c'mon. The order tracker is useless because it just says whether or not it's shipped
>>63830094NTA, and I am an IP attorney (although not an ideological one). The notion is that creation begets ownership; because you created an original, novel, and useful invention, the constitution grants limited powers of monopoly.
FWIW I think that patent lawfare is only really a problem in the big leagues, with pharmaceutical companies and players like that. I think that there's a good chance RBT gets clobbered here.
>>63829214they didn't spend millions in court fees to legalize the FRT, they spent millions to ensure they have a monopoly on the forced reset market. They acted like fags and everyone rightfully called them out as fags. RBT did not invent forced reset they're just trying to make money.
>>63830745> the guy in the garage wants to said thing, then by US law, he must buy the patented device from the patent holder. I legally buy my legal knock offs legally from legal temu. I have legal receipts legally to legally prove the legality. Check mate America.
>>63829667>The patent system is potentially exploitableLol. Its not "potentially exploitable" it IS EXPLOITABLE and people do so every day and have done so for decades. There are people who make a living literally just be suing other people for inventions based on vague patent claims.
>>63830001>Patents incentivise invention by guaranteeing that an invention can be monetised by its creator for 20 yearslol, lmao even. Take forced reset triggers for example. RBT didn't invent them, they just bought the rights to the patent. Now that a faceless grifter corporation legally has the rights (to something they didn't invent and had no hand in creating) to sue other companies making a completely different product. Isn't that pretty fucked?
>>63828417>>A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.you're a retard if you buy into this slop in 2025
>>63830745Why are you lying? Patent law explicitly only covers making money from a thing. You can make anything you want, so long as it isn't outlawed otherwise (like prohibited weapons)
>>63830210>They are morally right because they provide credit to creators and incentivise capitalismThey're morally wrong because if I come up with a patented idea independently and try to profit off it I'm not allowed, and it's considered as if a theft took place when it objectively didn't. Free markets flourished long before IP laws became commonplace.
>They don't enforce patent laws at all.Your picture provides no proof of this, considering US military vehicle designs don't even have publicly available patents. They're effectively treated as regular old state secrets, thanks to the US Invention Secrecy Act. And anyways, if they didn't enforce patents, there would be no incentive to apply for a patent, yet they get over one million applications per year.
>>63829594>but I hate IP law and those who abuse itIP law gets abused a lot. especially by big pharma and disney, but we do need it
>>63831082It's the year 2025 of our Lord, and you have instant access to all the information on the world in the palm of your hand, yet you still sit here sharing your childish misunderstandings of "how things are" as if they are facts for others to believe.
Here is one of the very first search results (of many) that says you're wrong. I'm sure you won't believe just this one though, but unfortunately for you, it's all I'll bothering sharing with you.
https://www.carrferrell.com/what-if-someone-uses-my-patented-invention-without-my-permission/
The two paths ahead of you now are:
>A) You want to accurately understand US patent law so you DYOR and within minutes understand that US patent law stipulates that individuals are infringing on a protected patent, even if what they're making is for personal use.>B) You want to continue having a childish misunderstanding of US patent law so you can parrot your false head canon anonymously online, deluding yourself that by doing so you can remain "right" and somehow save face. You won't spend 5 minutes to DYOR.Further more, to really expose the error of your mind, please share with everyone the "explicit" part of US patent law that says people can infringe on someone's patent so long as they aren't making money. I just talked down to you like a idiot bastard child; surely you want to put me in my place and prove me wrong, no?
>>63831068yuro please go and stay go
>>63831657>If I independently discover gravity in the current year, I should get the same recognition as Isaac Newton.Yeah, no.
>China makes a bizzilion patent applicationsAnd enforces none. What's not to get?
>>63831717I don't know why you're acting so miffed at this. I'm clearly correct when I say that if someone patents the concept of tables, you won't be arrested for making a table. This is because it's explicitly stated that you can't make frivolous patents.
So uh, sit down, I guess? In your place?
>>63831782>he chose B path>he now says the patent for FRT is frivolousBy doubling down on being wrong, you're losing even more face. You fail to understand that patents can be made for a utility. This is the last time I try to educate you, since you have chosen to be willfully ignorant and can't back up your claims with any sources beyond the rancid bends of your rectum.

>>63828311>you didn't use your guns already
>>63829280Given how FRTs work by utilizing recoil, would you even get reliable operation out of one on something as soft shooting as a 9mm PCC?
>>63836075NTA but 100% yrs
>>63828311These triggers have gotten people to come out with some of the most retarded takes and i love them for it
>>63828311>What's the point?Because I can, fuck you.
>you didn't use your guns already and this won't make you startSo?
>full auto isn't fun, it's very inaccurate and expensive and loud and gassy and will cook your barrel quicklyJust because youre a faggot about it doesn't mean we all are.
t>hey will give these same inventions to their pets to terrorize you and your family with, doesn't seem like a wise plan
If they can have it, I want the same option.
>>638360759mm PCC are honestly the best with FRTs and super safeties. The MP5 super safety is so much fun. And the Kuna is open for pre-orders now. Plug and play.
>>63831941Face? Come on, just tell me you're a chinese national while you're at it. Why did you claim I said the FRT is a frivolous patent when I was talking about a hypothetical patent of tables? Seems like you're grasping at straws. I don't think anything in those links of yours will help you there. You were just posting random links related to patents in the hope I wouldn't check them, anyway.
To summarise;
-You can't make frivolous patents
-You can't enforce a patent claim on some guy making shit in a shed for personal use.
-Patents are good for the technological progression of society because all patents are public and expire after 20 years.
It's "company secrets" that are the real demon. Things like a more efficient way to make mercury fulminate being kept secret by NDAs and such.
>To summarise;
>2 lies, 1 truth
Not sure if he's saying this nonsense just to bump the thread or if he's actually this dumb.
Anyone heard of any company working on a SS/FRT for the keltec cp33? Can't find anything online
I just want a properly placed 3 position safety totally not full auto doohickey that is non-ambi and can work with my geiselle trigger? Does such a thing exist?
>tfw the nfa is effectively toothless by legal fiat and cunning engineering within the span of a month
All my cum
>>63840653>Non ambiPut a screw in and file it down flat on the side you don't want?
>>63840725Also it supposed to work with any three position safety if I remember reading it for the delay team tactical
>>63840733Isnโt the order reversed compared to the labelling on some of these?
>>63840759Not on all the delta teams I have
I heard the trigger on the frt feels like Chinesium shit. Is this glowie cope or legit?
>>63841754The one from deez nuts feels like an ALG, but you can just put a Geissele in there if you want a better trigger.
>>63828311what is this euro-faggotry on my goddamn k

Has Deez shipped anything recently? I'm worried with the lawsuit that they won't be shipping orders they've received recently.
>>63828311>full auto isn't fun, it's very inaccurate and expensive and loud and gassy and will cook your barrel quicklyWrong on every account, it completely depends on your setup. Especially at 600-700 rpm, which isn't super fast.
If all of the glock 19 gen 4s are the same (if oem) and all of the frt kits are the same, why do some of the kit sellers on ebay say may require fitting/trimming? They're not so poorly made that they'd be different. I just want a cheap one to plug and play and see if its worth it
>>63842057Yeah man I just bought my brother one for Father's Day, no issues.
>>63841754RBT and Delta team frt aren't competition triggers and just a tad nicer than milspec.
>>63828311>>63828403>>63828455>>63828467picrel, faggot
>>63829214Those guys did win the FRT thing, now they are going after people who make a similar but different, and better, product because its undercutting them. While also selling a 3pos FRT that is a carbon copy of another companies FRT.
The Super Safety is not infringing on their patent, they just want to squash competition which is anti-gun, anti-fun, and anti-me. I hope they lose everything
>>63829214They "settled" for essentially a government-enforced monopoly. This isn't a win except for Rare Breed.
>>63828311>they will give these same inventions to their pets to terrorize you and your family withLook around, anon. The only places their pets aren't too afraid to riot and act like retards are leftist shitholes.
Trigger snobs dont make a lick sense when you apply that shit to an frt
Your holding the fucking thing down 90% of the time who gives a shit you don't need a glass break. A 6 pound mil spec trigger is fine on an frt . Dont beat around the bush you bought one to turn money into noise at 750 rpm and thats ok cause its fun. Save the nice triggers for your dmr build
>>63842893You are mostly correct but I still want my mk12 to have a Geissele trigger. DGAF about the trigger on the home defense SBR.

>>63840521Not that I know of.
>>63840653Yes, the Atrius. See the OP for link.
>>63840666Feelsgoodsatan.
>>63841973Nah, someone here got theirs. They were order #6XX. I get the impression Atrius are noobs who got WAY more orders than excepted and are sucking ass at keeping up with demand and communicating with customers.
>>63842707>essentially a government-enforced monopolyThat's literally what a patent is.
>>63842893You can still fire in semi. Also, why not have a nice trigger if you can?
I just got an FRT for my ar and it seems like every ten or so rounds the firing pin isnโt going through the primer, anyone else have this issue and what did you upgrade to fix it?
>>63843373Bolt bounce.
Use a silent captured spring or a lightweight bolt carrier.
>>63843460Thank you man, Iโm about to buy this one.
I just bought my first ar-15. except for the nodak spud lower and a few random pins, the whole rifle is an early 70s a1 parts kit. any weirdness in getting a SS to work in older rifle-length systems? anything specific I should watch out for?
>>63843495No problem. These are an upgrade in general, especially with suppressed guns.
>>63843460Why not just an extra power spring like from wolff?
>>63843512I have one in an ancient Sedra A1 and it runs great. Cyclic rate is low so I dropped a lightweight bolt carrier in it to get it over 800 rpm
>>63843548good to hear. did you need to do any fitting besides the trigger?
>>63843512>>63843575I dropped one in my rifle length dissy and it ran perfect . I did have to dremel out a bit of the upper to stop the ss from binding up.
Im running an anderson dissaptor barrel with a normal rifle buffer spring and bcg.fire rate is on the lower side of 700 rpm
>>63843594I was hoping to not have to dremel the upper, but fuck it small price to pay. interesting mix of parts on that rifle btw
>>63843546That might work but I've got no experience with them. I was already a JP Chad when I got my first super safety.
>>63843575No. The two considerations IME are the lower shelf height and the bolt carrier group profile. If you have a full auto bcg and a low shelf lower you should be fine.
>>63843632I was going for a 605 clone, being left handed dictated either running and ugly brass deflecter or a c7 upper so i went with a dpsm c7 upper. Lower is an h&r commando
>>63843632NTA but I also have a C7 upper and it did not require dremel work. YMMV
>>63844078Both my ar15s have c7 dpms uppers so it might be a manufacturer issue. Both have an ss and i had to dremel out both the same way
If my Atrius # is 34XX, how long do y'all think I have left to wait? I ordered it May 21st...
>>63846092Check their tracking page.
https://atrius.dev/order-tracking/
I'm also in the 3ks and it says orders are fulfilled in 4 weeks. We'll see if it actually ships this week.
God knows what the current order count is. I suspect these are getting these manufactured in China (่ฐข่ฐขๅนณๅนณ!), and that probably has a 4 to 6 week turn around for them (just a ballpark guess). Add to that delays and complications from the current trade war and I wouldn't be surprised if the real turn around time ends up being 8 weeks from order to shipping.
>>63846092Also order May 21st, in the upper #3500s. I sent then an email a little over a week ago but no reply
>>63846154Didn't know about that link, thank you!
I'm putting it in a 6.8 I have, I'll report back if I get it too. I don't mind the wait, so long as I get it, you know?
Would be kinda sucky too if your hunch about China is true, but at this point, fuck it. So long as I can throw a buck fifty downrange at 700+rpm. I'll be happy.
>>63846175I just emailed them about an hour ago as well. We'll see if they say anything.
>>63846177>Would be kinda sucky too if your hunch about China is trueWhere else would it be made manufactured to be able to sell at this price? Almost everything you use daily is wholey or partly manufactured in China. Anytime something is manufactured in the US you'll pay a lot more and the seller will make sure you know it's PROUDLY MADE IN USAโข!

I got my second super safety from AS Designs yesterday. They seem to be the only place to get them in CPM-10V which is the strongest steel that I've seen for these so far. I got an old Rocek Rover AR I could but it in. I'll need to get an M16 BCG though.

This means a patent holder technically has a claim against a "guy in a shed" however to succeed on the claim the patent holder must prove damages, which is basically impossible to do if it's just a guy in a shade making something for his own use since he can just say "I wouldn't have bought your thing anyway". Niggers.
>>63854446Yes, I know that I'm 100% correct. The hypothetical where a patent holder would lose in court (despite having the law clearly in his favor) is silly. The damages are theft in the amount that the patent holder is selling them for + damages + fees. Hope the guy in his garage likes getting his ass fucked.
>>63854634>patent holder must prove damages, which is basically impossible to do if it's just a guy in a shade making something for his own use since he can just say "I wouldn't have bought your thing anyway".
>>63854651That's your entire case for infringing on someone's patent? That you'd go through all the trouble of making one at home and proceed with using it, and then in court you think saying, "I ain't gunna pay for this thing!" is a strong enough case for infringing on someone's patent protection? Whew.
Hoffman Tactical super safety sisters, how do we respond to this? The Atrius Super Selektor has a much higher rate of fire in comparison to a Hoffman super safety. He also says the Atrius is "worth the wait."

Also BTW the springs that come with these stock are equivalent to lightweight regular buffer springs, probably a good idea to order the highest power spring on JP's website and replace it.
how do i stop dead trigger when my gun wont cycle with a buffer heavier than H2

>>63855855I've tried h1, h2, and h3 weights on in this Banshee and zero success. I'm trying h2 with the heaviest spring they offer next. This cartridge in this gun may just not be super safeable, I got my .45 ACP banshee to work with an h2 scs though.

I have some questions (trolling/jokes aside) cuz curious.
How much harder is an "increased ROF" (regardless if it's achieved via FRT, a bump stock or something else) AR-pattern to control, and how significantly do your ammo expenses increase to make sure you're trained well with it?
How does this affect your ammo logistics beyond training - do you have more mags on your vest? start buying bigger mags? etc
>>63855968Ammo cost is just arithmetic, but FA is fun as hell so you kinda want to shoot more. As far as control goes, it very much depends on the gun. G3? Fun but uncontrollable. Thompson? So heavy that it is a breeze. SAW? Highly controllable if you know what you are doing. PKM? Slightly more recoil than a SAW. MP5? Total cinch. AK? Not bad, especially with a slant. AR? Generally mild but the gas system and buffer length determines the impulse.
>>63854730I would argue that the fact you went through the trouble of making your own version is proof positive you really were never going to buy it.

Something else I've wondered without knowing much about american law or politics.
Why does the ATF not outlaw the act of firing at the speed of more than X rounds per minute, instead of playing legal whack a mole with force reset/auto sears/bump stocks/shoestrings? Sure it would be harder to enforce as you can't arrest someone for a device they clearly posess, but they could do it the way Texas does with abortion bans (bounty laws) or just incentivize snitching. What in the US legal system stops them from doing it?
To be clear, I don't believe it would be good if they did this or encourage this happening, but it seems illogically inefficient to enforce loopholes on their part, if they actually want citizens to not be able to run full auto.
>>63856104Those are just stls
>>63856109>Why does the ATF not outlaw the act of firing at the speed of more than X rounds per minuteLiterally impossible to enforce
>new leber v2 function test (home printed, never fired) in ap5
>4140 ss, precut trigger and 7075 slip trip, all as designs and dlc coated
>Ss position: trigger is ridiculously stiff, i can barely pull it with my fingertip, but once held it takes a much more reasonable amount of force to keep it held while cycling, forced reset works properly every single cycle
>Semi position: trigger pull is light and normal like any milspec fcg, however the disconnector does not catch the hammer if the trigger is held while cycling the bolt resulting in hammer follow , but if the trigger is not held the hammer is caught and the trigger is properly reset
Any ideas? The 2nd one I'm guessing the disconnector so I'll replace it (tried polishing it, maybe I took off too much material) however the 1st I'm not too sure, does it need to be broken in or maybe the trigger was cut improperly?

Little update on my Atrius Dev Super Selektor
First off, they are definitely real, and they are delivering product, it isn't vaporware.
Order #6xx, placed on release date. Took about 3-4 weeks to actually get. Got it, install is easy. Had some issues in an 80% lower that likely was finished out of spec. Swapped over to an ADM UIC Low shelf. With one of my uppers it ran solid, 120 rounds no issues other than a couple light primer strike dead trigger hammer follow malfs, typical of a timing issue in a machine gun or an FRT/SS, should be solveable with buffer/spring/gas tuning.
With a different lower and upper set up I was running into issue. Had some additional issues, will clarify more later, but got in contact with Atrius and they had top notch customer service, shipped me replacement parts ASAP for the shit that I am pretty sure I broke out of my own stupidity.
Will update further this weekend.

Atrius customer service was really good. Had a phone call with them, got a replacement part sent out ASAP. Put the replacement part in and got everything working. It is ripping good. Original issue was almost certainly my fault for fucking shit up.

>>63866335What are you asking them about? They really are a tiny operation, which makes sense. They've taken on a lot of financial and legal risk obviously by producing, marketing, and selling their product. My understanding is if you're trying to cancel an order, they'll respond, or like in my case I was having technical issues with the product itself and needed support and replacement parts shipped to me, they responded pretty quick, but if you're just asking for a "when will it ship", they're probably gonna be a bit slow on that. During my 3-4 week ship time I bugged them once or twice via IG, and both time they just said hang tight.
>>63866857I'm gonna try my Schmid Tool two-stage and I hope that one works well also because that means it has a good two stage semi auto mode, plus the FRS forced reset mode.
>>63856109This is a very Euro take on things, and I don't mean that as an insult. We just think very differently.
Americans on the whole are pretty comfortable with breaking laws and committing crimes, especially when they're victimless and/or difficult to enforce. It's a cultural thing, and also likely a results of too many goddamn laws on the books in the first place. When it's difficult to conduct your business over the course of a day without inadvertently breaking a law or two, you start to get relaxed about it.
>>63867606>cultural thingIt is deeper than that, it is genetic, and it isn't just about breaking laws in a general sense, it is about Americans coming from genetic stock that had built within them a stronger objective principled sense of right and wrong, of fair and unfair, of morals.

If you have a gun that is marginally cycling with very little operating energy to begin with, then yes you can overpower the mechanism with your trigger finger just clamping down hard enough.
>>63843460>lightweight bolt carrierthis will make the problem worse. you want more mass in the system.
>>63871378You are mistaken; you are confusing where the mass and resistance matter. A heavier buffer can slow the system down enough to prevent bolt bounce, but a lightweight carrier will not have enough energy to bounce. I have several and they are a drop in solution for a FRT that is giving you bolt bounce. The other solution is a JP silent captured spring.

Is there a list of 9mm PCCs compatible with super safety/selektor?
>>63876290Any also know how he got it to work in an LMT lower since those are high shelf?
Some helpful information I found on HK Pro for those wondering about getting an FRT/SSto run in a MR556/HK416:
>If you manually and slowly move the carrier forward it wonโt fully reset the FRT but it does connect with it partway because the MR carriers arenโt cut back nearly as far as commercial spec AR carriers are. Theyโre between milspec and commercial but definitely closer to mil spec side of the range.
>It will work almost always in actual live fire because the force of the carrier touching it is enough to send it the rest of the way forward.
>The super safety is even more lenient and works 100% even manually racking and slowly closing it.
>A BRN carrier will work 100% as far as the sear trip geometry but I trust HK metallurgy more than I care about a functionally irrelevant difference in the trip. Iโve used two FRTs (2 pos and 3 pos), and three types of super safety (plastic original, metal original, and WHA) and theyโve all functioned with the MR carrier and BRN, though the MR sometimes failed on the 2 pos FRT and had to be manually cycled. Super safety was 100% on both carriers but the plastic one snapped which I kind of expected. It showed signs of rubbing so it may have needed a bit of fitment and mightโve held up better in that case. The WHA is the best by feel of the super safeties and has held up very well if you go that route.

>>63892623Eh... Couple things. Dude in this video is clearly a bit of an idiot. 9 minute long video and no hard objective facts or information pertaining to his setup or what all was done. It is just him yapping about his "lived experience" like a woman. The cherry on top is that it takes half a brain cell to just hold the piece up to ones eye and see that machining marks, which he eventually did, and then commented on saying as much.
While the Atrius Selektor (and evidently the super safety design in general) does appear to have the possibility if not even propensity to snap the lever depending on tolerances and interference, the main assertion of that video, that the Atrius lever is cast, is clearly false.
Now is it perhaps the case that the Atrius design is more likely than legacy super safety levers to snap when there is interference or off tolerances? Perhaps. Is it the case that the 4140 treated steel is perhaps not as strong as it should or could be if the part were made from S7 or something? Yes that very well might be the case.
Anyway, my main point is basically, if Atrius shot the Sheriff, we especially ought not accuse them of shooting the deputy.
>>63894236What other parts are you using? Does your PSA EPT FCG show S markings, indicating it is a Schmid Tool FCG? I found that my Atrius Selektor, both the original and the replacement that I got when I broke my original, seemed rather finicky with various combinations of uppers, lowers, triggers, BCGs etc, and it appears that the tolerances for function are sorta tight in there.
>>63894743>says otherwiseThe lever I have and the levers I have seen on the internet are clearly machined from stock.
Backfilling update on my Atrius Super Selektor
Original lever that came in I am pretty sure I broke trying to get it to work with an 80% clone lower that I finished to 100% myself, and that very well might have been out of spec. I recall at one point during manual by hand cycling trying to force the selektor over to super forced mode, and using quite a bit of force to get it to rotate. I think that I originally bent it out of spec when doing that, or perhaps when just trying to get it to work in the 80% lower, because after that I struggled to get it to function reliably in a few different upper/lower/trigger setups, oh and I also at one point am pretty sure I was using it with an A5 length buffer tube, but a standard carbine buffer tube length buffer, which absolutely could have caused additional damage. What is curious is even with this initial damage/bend out of spec, the lever worked decently well in ONE setup with ONE combination of parts, but not in others. But then after more use it just bent more until it wasn't working at all in ANY of my setups/combos
Anyway, TL;DR is that the first lever that I got, pictures related, was probably broken by my own use of out of spec parts.
I think they should make them out of tool steel and or refine the geometry/design such that the tolerances with various other components in the operating system are better matched for the wear/strength of the lever.
The replacement lever I got when used with what I guess is the "correct" combination on in spec parts, has functioned well so far with no sign of bending. 350 rounds flawless, but obviously need 100x that to actually determine the true longevity of the design and parts.
Broken/bent lever next to replacement lever
are there any prebuily frt lowers?
>>63898940Thanks for posting all of this. It was pretty obvious to me (a non idiot) that Atrius was not using cast parts but the internet is full of stupid people and I'm glad you did the work to clear the air.
I'm thinking that I'll put my Atrius, which should arrive soon, in my fully pocketed lower. I'll try to get it to work with a LaRue MBT2 and report back. I previously milled an MBT2 to work with a Hoffman design SS but I have 2 more left so I may as well give it a shot.
>>63898885You can machine castings too brainiac. The current issues appear to be due to material quality, though yeah the super selector design is way flimsier than a super safety so it really should be S7 or other tool steel.

In normal semi-auto do buffer weight/spring changes radically change the recoil impulse? Is the bolt velocity always fast?
Could it be a case of radial delaying - as opposed to a properly ruined roller delayed or a DI or Gas - having varying bolt velocities ie delay slip?
If bolt velocity varies ie - one round is more delayed than the next by a larger margin than DI/Gas/Roller than that could be the trip up.

>inb4 modern politicsWe've basically done this since the beginning, although the rationale has changed over the centuries. There are also legitimately skilled and intelligent people that try to get over here to escape the hellholes that they grew up in, but 300 years ago this was an even worse hellhole back then. The different culture and free land were the draws, and free land hasn't been on the table for a while.
Back on the continent, the complacent, well-adjusted, and risk averse stayed where they were at. They were satisfied with what they had. Monarchy had some upsides. Why risk everything to move in with some borderline anarchists across the water to fight with Indians and possibly starve to death or get robbed by a passer by? That makes no sense to a rational person, so the rational people stayed behind.
But yes, by this point it's genetic. If you Euros are having a difficult time figuring out the American mindset, I've basically laid it out for you.

This guy says the company is better than Knights Armament and that it's run by people who murder people for a living (which he says is "cool" and "God's work"!). Also, despite being $600, that's actually not a lot of money. In fact, it's "extremely reasonable," because it's the price of him taking his family out to eat. He's blue collar, so I trust him. Interestingly, they claim to have patented this super safety trigger cut, (which looks like all the rest). He says that if you cut your own trigger for a super safety, then ATF WILLL fuck you in the ass and send you to prison for the rest of your life for manufacturing machine guns, so really it's worth paying them $600 to cut the trigger for you. He also says that all the other super safeties that are a third of the price can be converted into machine guns, because reasons. It's a pretty enlightening video. Bought a rare breed 3 position frt. With an H1 buffer I get light strikes and with an H3 buffer I get failures to feed. I tried three different BCGs. Next week I'll pick up an H2 buffer and an adjustable gas block and try again.
Oh and if anybody has issues with closing the upper and lower, the hammer needs to be in the forward position or it'll stop a cunt hair from closing.

Not a very useful response desu but at least it was a quick response. I was hoping they would say what range they have been fulfilling lately because it's already been over a month. Are they in the 2000s? 3000s? Who knows..
Anyone gotten there's recently?
>>63910770I ordered on May 18th, order #2472 and I emailed them on the 19th of June and got a response the next day that my order was 2-3 weeks out, I also asked for a range of the order numbers they were fulfilling but was only told a rough time estimate

How to increase the ROF on my PSA AK102 with super safety? I got it running decent, but it sorta chugs.
>>63906112I agree it should almost certainly be a harder steel.
Mine is at 500 rounds so, no issues yet. I'll say the steel is good enough once it makes it 30k rounds
>>63910187Interesting. Failures to feed due to the BCG not cycling far back enough, or not enough force on the way back in to feed correctly? What buffer spring? Adjustable gas might be good to have, especially if you're running a can.
>>63910770I ordered on release day, May 16th or so. Order #600 or so.
I got mine June 14th or so, so 3-4 weeks later.
I had some issues with an 80% lower, I think I bent/broke my original lever trying to get it to run in an out of spec 80% lower. Atrius shipped me a replacement lever super fast, two days. Replacement lever is going strong, 500 rounds so far no issues, works well.
>>63911490Oh I thought it was the part number, got so confused.
>>63912495These guys are running h2 or h3 buffers.
I've seen SS's made out of a lot of different materials. I'm told 4140 steel is totally fine, but what material woild I want if I wanted a SS that would survive until the end of time? Some fancy tool steel?
>>63912594They have d2 tool steel at deeznutstactical, link in ops post. And s7 steel.
Wait is D2 tool steel? I always assumed it was stainless
>>63912911>is D2 tool steelTechnically yes, though it does have quite a high chromium content compared to other tool steels. Not quite as high as most true stainless steels, and it has more carbon content.
>>63912594I believe AS Designs sells the strongest super safeties, CPM-10V.

>>63912495>Failures to feed due to the BCG not cycling far back enough, or not enough force on the way back in to feed correctly?Bolt not going back far enough. I have two ar15s and didn't try the other upper because I didn't think to grab it when I left the house. I think both of the springs I have are mid length. I guess when I hit the store (I live 40 minutes away from the nearest gun store with a good selection so it's a pain in the ass) I'll get some different springs too.
>>63910187What barrel length and gas system? H2 buffer would be next thing to try. Adjustable gas won't help anything if you are under gassed as you're already using the maximum amount of gas.
>hammer needs to be in the forward position or it'll stop a cunt hair from closingDo you mean the lever? It doesn't matter for the hammer it can be in any position.
>>63913206>both of the springs I have are mid lengthbrother what are you talking about. Do you mean gas system?
>>6391325716 inch barrel, carbine length gas system (pretty sure but might be wrong, I am no expert)
In pic related on the left, the upper and lower will seat as normal. On the right, it will stop a hair from being seated and you'd have to put a thin blade in the gap and push the "sear" forward. I had two M16 bolt carriers and I thought maybe they were both out of spec so I bought a third and it still wouldn't close until I released the hammer. Of the bolt carriers I tried one was an aero, one was a faxon and I forget what the make on the third one is. On buffer springs, I have no idea how to differentiate between them so I have no idea what I have but I only tried one of them. I'm still kicking myself for not getting an H2 buffer weight when I was in the store last. I'll run out to the store and buy the H2 buffer tomorrow (rural appalachia, everywhere is closed on sundays)
>>63913910oh nvm I'm retarded. You said FRT not SS. Disregard what I said about the hammer.
Asking about springs as there is no "mid length" buffer, just carbine and rifle length. There are three different types of buffer weights and extensions though.
You can tell if you have a rifle or carbine spring by counting the coils. You may want to measure the overall length too, if it's too worn out it could also be cause of the feeding issue. Replacing with a fresh spring is not a bad idea if you don't know how old it is.
>>63914149There's not much info out there so I'm posting what I've been doing so others can see they need to be prepared to tune their rifles.
35 coils on the buffer spring, just under 11.5 inches.
>>63892824Reach out in insta DM. I had the same problem because I was a day one order and there was such a flood of orders the system crashed and they have a back log

>>63876979>Does a super safety/FRT exist for the PS90? Any relevant posts I can find are just "Oh one exists for the AUG and its basically the same as the P90 lol" but nothing helpfulLast I checked with the guy who made the Aug version was about six months to a year ago and he wasn't interested in looking at the P90 at that time but said it would be largely the same concept, someone would just have to work out specific dimensions and he doesn't own a P90 to do any of that with anyway. I haven't looked since then so don't know if anyone has taken on the project. Didn't seem like that guy wanted to get involved in it.
If there is an option out there then keep in mind it likely will require some drilling on your stock. If you want to keep your factory stock unmolested you'll either need to print a replacement or buy a second stock (a little over $500 because FN doesn't sell them, Promoted Pawn parts out new rifles to get them).
