It's hard to give a one size fits all answer to this kind of question. It depends on what the console is offering and what the potential buyer is looking for. I'll just focus on the Switch 2 in particular since we're talking about DK here.
If you own a Switch and you like the idea of backwards compatibility and your games getting free performance boosts without upgrades, on top of getting actual updates that boost resolution and performance? I think that's already an underrated feature of the Switch 2.
If you were upset with the Switch 1's lack of power and performance, the Switch 2 rectifies that as a pretty substantial generational leap forward which is going to allow games to play a lot better, more third party ports and that sort of thing. We're already seeing that with games like Cyberpunk outperforming the previous gen ports on PS4 or even Steam Deck.
If you are into franchises like Xenoblade, or Splatoon, or Pokemon etc etc, basically any exclusive Nintendo IP, then you're probabably gonna want a Switch 2. If you're a big enough fan of those series, seeing as how they're all going to be getting games eventually, then yeah I think it makes sense even if the game you want isn't there at launch.
If none of those things interest you, and you only want to buy the console for one game, then I guess it would be hard to recommend it. But based on how fucking huge the Switch 1 library is, there's going to be a lot to play on Switch 2. I think base line you would want anywhere from 3-5 titles to make it warranted to buy an entire new console, but arguably more than that depending on the person. For those unsure, there's no real harm in waiting until it has more games you want to play.
