With updates for balancing, content, options, and features, it has the potential to be really special someday. Shame some of those updates will probably be paid. The tracks are fine but intermissions are universally hated so I have hope they aren't going to make any more. Just keep them in KO tour and ban them in WW. The item balance is also kind of questionable; red shells are overpowered because the indicator is bugged and doesn't work half of the time, mega/golden is 2x better than bullet bill, feather is near useless save for a skip on a few tracks, horn being invisible to other players is stupid, blooper is still in the game and the flowers ball hitboxes are smaller than the projectile is

Intermissions are great you boomers

Do you even get anything for doing the P-block challenges in the open world? General gameplay and tracks are fun, but not sure where it falls among the series best.

I wouldn’t say it’s awful but it feels a lot more situational than before. Dodging lightning is always nice when it happens. Besides that though, I would say most attack items are underpowered. It feels like crap when you get triple reds in the middle of the pack and they get eaten up by random guys that just mushroom boost to recover. Then they have Boo which is probably the best item in the game because of the fact you can drive off-road, dodge lightning, either take away first place’s protection or get a game winning item and you get it while being closer to the front of the pack.

Going back to play 8, it felt like the main issue was somewhat similar to World, but happened at a different portion of the game. You get a good item set lower in the pack, wait for the blue shell to hit someone, then boost to first. And being first is better in 8DX because blue shells are weaker there on top of red shells being so much better. A red shell in World is a minor inconvenience. A red shell in 8 is just as punishing as a blue except it can hit you regardless of placement.

If you're bad, you hit one of them, losing time and disabling it so the next guy can pass unimpeded, and if you are good, you weave around them and keep them intact, which usually loses about the same amount of time but you get to pass the problem on. Yeah that's my biggest gripe with this game. It makes no fucking sense that first place should be safer than 2nd and 3rd. 2nd and 3rd place constantly gets fucking pummeled by red shells from enemies in the back which increases their distance to first place, and first place only has to worry about the blue shell since second and third never gets red shells and the lighting slows down the people behind him trying to catch up as well. It makes no fucking sense that 2nd and 3rd place can't get a red shell, they need it more than anyone.

Not even close, that would be Double Dash. And that's not to say DD is bad. All of the Mario Karts are above average to phenomenal games. World is very good, it's just worse than 8D, 8, and 7 so it seems "bad" because it's not as good as the most recent games. Wii, DS, 64, Super Circuit, SNES, and DD are all worse than World.

I've been using Rosalina on the Mach Rocket and having pretty good success with that at around 8800 VR. I was hoping that they were going to do away with these types of stat distributions but it looks like the only vehicles worth using are the Baby Blooper, the R.O.B. H.O.G., the Mach Rocket. At least the meta vehicles have actual style to them this time and aren't literal baby toys on roller wheels.

My problem is exactly that they suck to pull because they rarely help. You get triple reds, who benefits? Unless you’re 2nd to 4th, it sure as hell isn’t you. Most of them aren’t helpful unless you’re close to first because they either get eaten by the crowd. The star also really sucks in this game, which is crazy because it’s pretty similar to a Boo except you can hit other players instead of stealing an item, but the entire context is when you can get them. You can get Boo when you’re threatening first and can make important cuts while dodging danger, you get stars when you’re in the back of the pack and need mushrooms to catch up.

2D Mario Karts are easily the worst ones, Double Dash is overrated, Wii overall has the best tracks, World is fun but the free roam is completely unnecessary. It has ton of Peach coins and mini missions scattered around all just to unlock fucking stickers.

I didn't even know the combo I was using was legitimately meta until yesterday despite being somewhat of a tryhard. Pro Racer Rosalina and Pro Racer Peach on the Mach Rocket is an aesthetic I didn't know I needed and felt good to use when I was getting used to the new controls, so I just stuck with that and now will be sticking with that. I don't think any bikes in Mario Kart World have inward drift, which I assume is because of the wall riding mechanics. With how it felt in Mario Kart 8, I don't mind it being completely gone and I doubt many other people will with how tight you can take turns without drifting now.

Any vehicle that isn't the Baby Blooper, the R.O.B. H.O.G., or the Mach Rocket is cucked because those three vehicles in particular have both a high speed stat and a high acceleration stat that no other vehicle has nor can compete with. At the very least you can pretty much use whatever character you want now, lightweights do better on courses with a lot of turns and heavyweights do better on courses with a lot of straightaways, but that won't matter most of the time online.

To be fair, they do have weaknesses on certain tracks like Moo Moo Meadows or Wario Shipyard since they heavily feature unfavorable terrain for them. That depends on how often you find yourself trying to break through the pack. Heavyweights are better if you can remain unscathed or stay ahead of the pack but lightweights are better if you're getting clobbered or need to survive within the pack. It won't matter too much online since that kind of thing is never consistent between races, and it also doesn't matter against CPUs with how much they rubber band.

There isn't any one vehicle that's good on all types of road without sacrificing a detrimental amount of acceleration, though as far as overall stats go, the Baby Blooper has the highest combination of both speed and acceleration of any vehicle. For some reason, it has no stat tradeoff whatsoever unlike most other vehicles where "more speed = less acceleration" or "more acceleration = less speed", so it's simply the best of both worlds. As such it's the preferred choice over most other vehicles in everything except specific courses in Time Trials where minor stats make a much larger difference.

Yes. Most of the racing occurs on long straight roads to until you get to the actual track and than it's one lap on the actual track and that's it. The courses are also very wide which hampers the finer evironmental details, making the tracks feel less unique.
