It's colorful, it's cute, it's easy to carry around, and it had Nintendo exclusives in a time when those were actually good. Super Mario Sunshine and Smash Bros. My older brother would tell me about Smash Bros and I had no idea what he was talking about but the idea of Pikachu vs. Mario blew my mind.
