PC gaming is dying.
There's a few things left but the platform is stagnant. I wish it weren't so, but that's where we are.
At least I was there at it's peak, 2003 - 2012.

We won't have any real good PC exclusive shooters because CoD killed the genre.

We won't have any more good actual MMORPGs because WoW turned the entire genre into low effort trash.

We won't have any more RTS because everyone who made them is retired or dead.

Emulators. Even now Sony and Nintendo have teams of lawyers suing anyone bold enough to host a site.

All that's left is CoDtrash and gachaslop. That is the future of PC gaming.

Yes, PC gaming is growing in Asia. In fact, the Asia Pacific region is projected to lead the global market in revenue for PC gaming hardware according to Grand View Research. Several factors are contributing to this growth, including a strong esports culture, increased internet penetration, and the rise of social media and streaming platforms.

Shooters generally aren't that interesting in the first place without significant levels of extra mechanics added in, generally I won't even touch them if they're not a borderline or full blown imm sim.
>any more good mmorpg's.
There hasn't been a single good mmo since tibia or ultima online, wow is garbage do a flip.

Exclusives are bad, I don't mind everything being able to play the same games. Because then the best price/performance would win the console war and not retarded brand loyalty. I'm perfectly fine with consoles being mini pcs performing sufficiently or even good and pc being the high end. Would help hardware and not slowly kill it like this console war retardation people got indoctrinated into by greedy marketing psyops.

Retards like you have been saying PC gaming is dying since the 90's. PC gaming is alive and thriving thanks to current gen consoles being basically gay low end PC's themselves. PC gaming offers the highest resolutions, graphical detail and most FPS out of any platform. Look at the most recent release of Stellar Blade as a great example of why PC gaming is superior. Nude mods within 24 hours. Boom.

It literally is dying. PS5s are $399 plus Black Ops 6 and a fully haptic controller and it can run literally any AAA game at 60fps and with at least decent fidelity. PCs cost thousands and require large amounts of upkeep, troubleshooting, hackers in multiplayer games, delayed releases that console gets first, etc. Pointless.

PC gaming isn't dyingโ€”it's thriving. Data from Steam shows over 38 million concurrent players in 2024, with peaks like January 2025 hitting 36 million. The global PC gaming market was valued at $39.9 billion in 2023 and is projected to grow to $44.6 billion by 2028. New releases like Black Myth: Wukong and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 smashed records, with millions sold on PC. Hardware advancements, like NVIDIA's RTX 5090, and platforms like Steam Deck keep pushing the ecosystem forward. Posts on X reflect strong enthusiasm, with users hyping new games and PC builds. Mobile and console gaming are growing too, but PC's flexibility, modding culture, and raw power keep it dominant. Claims of "dying" often come from console fans or outdated narratives, not reality.

PC needs a new physical medium in the form of hot swappable SSD-like cartridges that hold up to terabytes of ROMs. They can also be partitioned to have save data and mods. If GabeN did this with steam carts then I'll buy more PC games.

This, I'd love for big box PC games to make a comeback but when a PC game does get a physical release, even if it sells gangbusters on steam the boxed copies just sit on the shelf at walmart until they're $20.
That and Best Buy and every other store that sells PC games are phasing out physical media entirely.

Because they want to get rid of them, because they don't sell, because everyone's digital-only now.

There's also the advantage of running the game from the cart instead of installing it on PC. You can even install updates to the card if you like. Plus you can use empty SSDs to quickly and safely swap your own stuff instead of relying on cloud storage and ToS. You might be able to back up your steam games to the drive as well.

So a physical copy that circumvents steam would be financially feasible because for a fullprice title that 30% would easily cover the costs of medium, packing and shipping thrice over.

I'm just argueing for physical media, not for steam. 12 bucks consumer are peobably 3 bucks bulk business. Let's add another 3 for a fancy box and you'd be at 9 which soon gonna be a whopping 10% of a full price title compared to steams 30%. Wasn't too far off with thrice over.

I bet if one major game like GTA came to PC on blu ray then people would start buying blu ray drives and blu ray PC games would come out.
A decade ago obviously, it's too late now.

We literally had Steam Next fest for the past week which wasn't only either CoDtrash or gachaslop. RTS is alive and had a bunch of demos there. It's true though about PC exclusive shooters and MMORPGs but all of gaming is pretty much going down the drain at the moment, it's just hard to accept it's an established medium and the early 00s aren't coming back when every platform had their own niche and had plenty of compelling games.

List the games, I'm not even asking for a nebulous "but it has to be GOOD" while I dismiss everything, I simply ask you to list them at all.
However, you cannot list:
>RTS games that are sci-fi slop.
>Walking simulators (defined as games with little to zero combat focused on MUH NARRATIVE)
>Anything with deckbuilding mechanics.
>Vampire survivors clones, as they are somehow more mindless than musouslop.
>Wipeout/Fzero clones.
>"J"rpgs that aren't made in japan by japanese people, especially not if they are chrono trigger or earthbound clones.
>Pokemon clones.

correction, nintendo consoles are the future, as they are the only ones NOT forcing devs to cheap out and make constant 90% discounts to have any relevance in the algoyrithm
>once gabe dies the pc storefronts will become fragmented and support will die off.
hopefully that happens sooner than later, as western indie markets are already on their deathbed thanks to steam and steamies pushing for pointless graphic bloat or else games get called "shovelware"
