Armed and Delirious is peak Game Dungeon. The way Ross tries to piece together whatever the hell that fever dream of a game was had me in tears. It felt less like a review and more like watching a man slowly lose his grip on reality, and I respected him more for sticking through to the end. That grandma is an agent of chaos. Sonic's a solid pick too, but nothing tops sheer bewilderment like A&D.

The Fahrenheit one was good if only for the moment the game goes off the rails and the main character becomes Superman.

I did back when it first came out. It is pretty dry from start to finish. Ross works best with a script or like with Carnevil where he can just go off on a tangent without worrying about having an actual conversation with someone.

Ross just makes everything seem okay.
The only video that snaps me out of it is Boppin' because a second person, in this case Tom from Weird Videogames, breaks the spell I seem to fall under when watching Ross videos. It's like those cobra masters using two sticks to "hypnotize" the cobra, it just doesn't seem to work.

One that I've been rewatching was Legends of Kyrandia 2. I hope he does more point and click games, his humor works really well with those without having some DSP tier moment or technical issue that he thinks is part of the game.

I think this explains all of it, honestly. Almost all of the good videos are on games he's already played (at least partially), and so he returns to them because they stuck with him for some reason. That reason then turns into the meat of the video. The bad videos are about games he's never played before, and so he basically ends up doing a blow-by-blow. What makes his videos fun are his unique personality, which doesn't have a chance to shine when he's just listing off what happens

Deus Ex series is some of the best Game Dungeon out there, and he played them beforehand. The Secret World was also a great video, and so on. The important thing is that there needs to be some kind of interesting angle the game can be approached from. Ross is really good at exploring and questioning a game world as if it were a real space, or to just look at mundane details and then make them into interesting avenues of thought. His reviews are great because they are truly unique, but some games just allow for more of that

I love it when Ross makes infographics like this one. The top one is basically the plot structure of KOTOR and KOTOR2, both great games but I can understand why this illusion of choice is annoying to someone like Ross. The bottom one is what he and I wish more RPGs could be like, but I understand why that doesn't happen, because by the time you get into the last branch of paths you're in a completely different game that needs it's own set of assets. Most text-based that aren't literal dating sims aren't usually as character-driven as something like Kotor, unfortunately. I can give you some of my favorites but honestly no game has ever gotten it right. I just think text-based stuff is in a better position to reach that goal, since it isn't weighed down by the exponential cost of grafix and voice acting. As for actual full fat vidya I think Alpha Protocol or Age of Decadence are the closest we've got, which you might have already played.

His Armed & Delirious videos are infinitely rewatchable. I understand that a lot of that game's humor is broken because it's an Israeli game operating on pun logic in another language, but it's still just so bizarre even beyond that. Yeah maybe this is an unpopular opinion but I feel like Buster is sort of a return to classic Game Dungeon form, like Nyet 3, Bozo's Night Out, Spiderbot, etc. A game that's utterly bizarre that no other YouTuber would ever even think to cover, and isn't even necessarily very good but gives Ross something to ramble about. I actually kind of prefer games like these for his Game Dungeons, as opposed to games like Sabotain where he's just sort of giving a play-by-play of his playthrough. Those aren't even bad per se, they're just not as rewatchable as some of the other classic Game Dungeons.

Black Future '88 is one of the only GDs I'd really consider to be actually so bad as to be unwatchable. It's a perfect storm of a bad game in a genre Ross doesn't like, which is really focused on game mechanics where Ross really prefers games with good stories.
