Not a remake, it's a remaster and that's the exact reason why.
What was done here was to grab Raidou 1's codebase and modify different parts of it.
Things like the fog effects in PS2 games tend to rely on the PS2's retarded GPU and the stupidly specific ways in which it handled blending and mipmapping, and what these companies do is to take the lazy way out and just remove the effects entirely instead of introducing a new implementation of those effects.
TLDR ATLUS are lazy cashgrabbing DLC-filling scumbags, as per usual.

I don't know how it feels actually playing it, but looking at it the free camera makes the arena look like it has a lot more freedom to move around in and you won't end up behind the opponent which I think could feel bad in the original. Some games definitely do benefit from fixed camera, but I don't know if this is one of them.
