I think that's just a quirk of the new collision system. You get tossed by most things, but that usually involves getting tossed in the direction you're going so you don't get punished too hard. For whatever reason that Skeeter changed the direction of the hit so what should have been forward momentum went completely horizontal. I think you got caught on on its hitbox and all the forward momentum slid right until it escaped.

I like it a lot more. On the tracks it feels like there's more decision making in the sense that you can take a route that saves time but is riskier, taking longer paths to make sure you don't miss out on items and so on. Optimal rail grinding and wall riding don't feel automatic as it'd seem at first glance, charge jump could use a bit of work mainly because only the level 1 jump is worth anything for cuts.

That's not exactly possible let alone viable actually. Because of how rails work, if you get bumped while on it you fall off meaning that the shortcut is riskier while on middle positions, and most of these rail shortcuts skip items on purpose which might not make it worth it on the last positions where you can get comeback items. The player that benefits from these the most is the front runner since they'll probably get bad items anyway and assuming they already have protection they can risk going for the shortcut to increase the gap and secure a win, which is pretty cool imo

The only two missing Yoshis are brown and black. What outfits do you give them for updates? For me, brown should be a chef while black a detective.

For me it's the Piranha Plant in the Pipe Frame. It has a nice simplicity to it.

you can use the water to boost continuously, just charge a drift jump, and then it'll cause you to dip underwater which will make it so you can do a boost when you surface. just repeat that over and over, or use waves on courses with choppy water.

The first cut depends, I do what's the harder route where you just charge jump into a wall, but I had the same inconsistency issue. I will say that it feels harder to do this stuff with bikes because they're not as big, meaning there's a larger margin of error.

play multiplayer with 2 controllers, vs match, no computers
go to the first double item box in the map, put one racer about 5-7 seconds ahead on the course. the other grabs an item, if it's not a kamek either drive off the course or turn around until lakitu picks you up, resetting your item luck.
if you're getting golden shells / coin blocks the other driver is too far. you should be getting lots of triples, hammers, mushrooms, etc for the ideal kamek range.

play versus using just yourself with 2 controllers, no cpu normal items. have 1 player drive about 5 seconds ahead of an item block and then another driving back and forth farming a double item block. if you drive backwards on a course lakitu will reset you and take away your items so just drive behind the item blocks to reset if you don't get kamek. if you get kamek then just use it to turn the other player into a random enemy. once you use kamek you'll have to reset your game because I think they put a limit on the minimum time between kameks. some transformations are more likely depending on the course you're racing on so pick tracks according to what you need.

In retrospect, the speculation about how they'd handle the roster and if there'd be more crossovers only for them to decide to have generic mob NPCs as racers was pretty funny. Don't think anyone thought cataquacks or the swoops were a viable option.

I like to play online and get to the end of lap 3 in first place then break and wait for everyone to pass me so my VR stays low and I get to keep playing with bad players.
