Sony fired and chased all of their weird devolpers when they decided to put all of their focus on AAA blockbuster titles and then turned around and cried about how there's no more 'creative' people left in the industry.

AA games are dead and have been dead for a long time. Major studios will put out AA games here and there but still charge $70 for them, so no one wants to buy them. Consumers see a new game, see that it's kinda ugly and janky because all they want are AAA billion dollar budget games with the best graffix.

Slitterhead fell into the generic UE5 game trap and it is impossible to make a soulful UE5 game. Basically everything about it looked generic, even the central gimmick looked more like a bad 360/PS3 game than anything from Siren even though I know I'm going to get shit for saying that it remind me more of Mindjack, having never played any of these games I still maintain that this is about my nigh-schizophrenic impressions, not the actual facts.
There are too many compromises that AA needs to make in today's market for anyone to get really excited about it. If indie could be equated to making a sandwich and AAA could be equated to selling your soul for a life of luxury, then AA is selling half your soul for a sandwich, it's just not feasible.

They are short development time, have unique looks and ideas, and don't cost a lot. Sure, they might have one or maybe 2 AA budget titles, but they're only coming out every 3 or 4 years and none of them i would consider crazy unique
