>>713105635he is kinda bland but if you wanna learn how to make basic vidya soundtracks he is definitely a go-to source for high production value.
his best stuff is probably
>Secret of Evermore>Neverwinter Nights>KotoRMind you, only SoM is really original work. The others are good because they blend well with the environment they were created for.
KotoR is obviously using lots of star wars motifs and NWN is like the stuff that Michael Hoenig did for BG1/2 except more boring.
It's really not that he is bad or anything, but if you go and listen to his Mists of Pandaria tracks, and put them right next to the stuff that Jason Hayes and Glenn Stafford did, the melodies are just too much by the book.
His actual masterstroke, and the thing that probably landed him a real career, is the use of that fuckin horn in the morrowind soundtrack you hear in literally every other one of his soundtracks from then on.
Some of the Guild Wars 2 tracks aren't too bad either.
He also did Dark Alliance 1/2, which are again pretty good DnD soundtracks.
Anyway,
Frank Klepacki and Uematsu clap his ass out of the bathwater
The early especially because of his range
