I love how simple her redesign is. Some girls in GFL2 are a bit overdesigned or just have plain ugly designs, but 45 has a sleek and simple design that is easy on the eyes. I warmed up pretty quickly to it

Comparing early GF designs to late ones is pretty wild. I feel like gacha girls have kind of reached the point where everything has been done so the artists just gotta throw everything at the wall and see what sticks. Personally, I think Nep's design is pretty timeless. You can tell that she's a genki girl who loves games at a glance without her, say, wearing a shirt that says "Don't piss me off I'm a gamer" and wearing a controller in her head. Instead, there's little console-based elements all over her design, including a controller in her head.

And no, the art isn't to scale so she didn't randomly grow and shrink lol. I think she gained 1cm during the timeskip between CS2 and 3. You can see her gradual shift from cute to professional (and cute).

A lot of the legacy movesets are weird, UMvC3 actually does try to salvage Spider-Man a bit with some new moves but Iron Man is just a total mess. Believe it or not Infinite actually did overhaul Iron Man for the better.

I feel the same way. I look at modern gacha girls in general and they’re all so overdesigned and have all these bright colors on them. What’s funny is they all try to look unique and original but nowadays I have trouble telling gacha girls apart. It’s like they’re all the same girl wearing different outfits.
And ye GFL isn’t any different honestly. You look at the earlier Dolls and they look so simple and elegant compared to the new Dolls that get added every month. It’s honestly kinda sad, so much creative energy going to waste like that.
At least with older characters like 45, the artists already have a reference sheet to go off of. I’d hate to design a new girl from scratch in this day and age. The new girls introduced in GFL2 are cute but they look a little generic and/or overdesigned.

I guess it is a bit weird because the Dolls are all androids, but they could always just call the day they were first booted up their “birthday”.
