The point we can both agree is that Xenoblade certainly filled its purpose, to the point where the Switch almost became the default JRPG machine except for a couple of prestige titles. Star Ocean 2 R sales are quite telling on this, the Switch version outsold Playstation domestically but Sony won worldwide by a relatively small margin. I think the Switch 2 generation will be do-or-die for many companies, everyone should understand by now that there was a huge migration to the Switch and the momentum doesn't seem to be slowing down. There is no way Sony will be producing physical games for that system and the cynical justification will be to reduce manufacturing complexity and/or "DON'T YOU GUYS HAVE INTERNETS???". Also, the rumoured 720p screen means that they're going for a much smaller handheld, probably something in between a Vita and the Switch, but right now all that this communicates is how utterly unsure they are of this product, meaning that they aren't willing to commit to a beefier system. Better hardware means more heat and power draw. Yes your phone can play shit at 4k res and all the jazz but comes at cost of draining battery in 10 minutes and/or getting dangerously hot.
