Been playing picrel. Pretty good so far, definitely feels more Tron than Legacy did. Any of you fans of the various Tron games we've gotten over the years? And if you've played Identity and Catalyst, what do you think?
I've only played 2.0 & Evolution here, fucking loved Evo's multiplayer (RIP). Demo of Catalyst turned me off with its barebones production values and combat feeling like a watered-down Hades clone.

I've played 2.0 and it's the best Tron game ever made, and the only Tron 2 i'll accept. fuck Legacy. I've played a bit of Evo and liked what I played. As for Catalyst, it's definitely pretty bare in the combat department but it's a fun button masher and i like its aesthetic. we will sadly never get production value in a Tron game like 2.0 and Evolution again.

At the least for Catalyst, draw more than one portrait of a character, and have them facing one another instead of fade-transition every god damn line of dialog. If you're going to pull visual novel-tier production values for story telling, at least be up on the standards of a VN. I will say they at least the tone, music, and aesthetic right in the game that was present in the demo.

its so funny that you mention the visual novel tier production values, cause the previous game, Tron Identity, was a full on VN. didnt play much of it. but it did also have cheap production values. the cutscenes were 3D in Identity at least. just.. static. characters didnt move. but at least sometimes characters faced each other in that one.

Probably was why I never ended up playing it. There was that endless runner game also, but why the fuck would I pay $25+ for one of these.

honestly im fine paying for these games if theyre something i think id enjoy. and i do enjoy them. i enjoy Catalyst, and i liked the bit i played of Identity. maybe its just desperation because Tron 1 is my favorite Disney film and Disney keeps shafting me when it comes to new Tron media.

I'm just hoping Tron Ares is 'fun' to watch at worst, and maybe spurs another new game or two, since I'm not expecting much for plot after Legacy. Jesus fuck Disney, just greenlight another season of Uprising.

Jared Leto as the main character coupled with "The Grid is in OUR world?!" REALLY turns me off, but I hope it's better than Legacy at least. what the FUCK happened with that movie? why did Disney think that was a worthy sequel?

Ah, a fellow program of culture. yeah i fucking ADORE Tron 2.0. on top of actually feeling like it respects the original film, it's just a really well made FPS with creative weapons. getting the multi disc and spamming it at enemies will never NOT be satisfying.

I was mostly fine with Legacy until the last third, then it just went off the fucking rail and the ending ruined it. The soundtrack was fucking goat though in the theaters.
>>713152753
honestly, the entirety of Legacy just did NOT do anything for me. it didn't feel like a Tron movie to me. it felt like a standard brooding techno thriller. obviously the 3rd act didnt help, but overall it lacked the spice the original did.
that being said, the soundtrack was indeed kino, especially in the theatre. and i like the updates made to the games within the grid, and the light cycles.

Whelp.
