The spawn rate is so fucking high on switch 2 that it feels more like an investation then a pokemon hunt game.

Its still ok as a game, but like the battles are still painfully slow and you need to do Gym challenges before a battle which are nothing more then push a physics ball through a maze. Really screaming "this is for kids, dude".

I upgraded my online subscription to the plus tier on a whim one weekend because I wanted to see how their N64 emulation was (ended up mostly just playing Mario Kart Super Circuit on the GBA emulator) but I was thrilled to learn the paid expansions like Zelda's are free with the extra pass. Wasn't gonna go out of my way for them but I've been playing Tears of the Kingdom on pro-HUD mode with my phone propped up as the mini-map and it's super comfy. Wish it had an option to show only shit I've discovered, the only option for icons is to show _everything_ and I don't want the map to show every god damn korok seed (I'm here to find them myself bitch).
Also thrilled to see a bunch of random third party games I bought but that ran like absolute ass like Saints Row IV and Another Crab's Treasure are finally playable.

Replaying TotK. God it's so fucking good at 60fps.

One thing I just realized is that it actually does have dungeon specific items like classic Zelda. They are the sage abilities. The dungeons themselves are also well designed and retain that feeling of tp dungeons, plus caves are dope as fuck. Me and my son are still enjoying near daily Mario Mark sessions. I'd stopped playing the Switch and PC because of going back to uni and just being distracted so getting the Switch 2 has inspired me to finally tackle my backlog. Can't believe I never even finished Ass-tral Chain, so I've started a new playthrough on that. Mario Kart 8 is not a terrible Mario Kart game but it was a LOT for me to take in, my last Mario Kart having been MK 64 lol.
I just thought I'd outgrown the franchise despite how much I'd loved it on the SNES and 64 (especially N64). Turned out MK8 just wasn't for me. I'm hooked on MK World. I had to go back and play MK 64 on Switch online just to see how it compared. MK 64 still had a more challenging, but more rewarding to master powerslide but other than that, yeah World just feels like I'm 15 again duking it out with my younger and older brother.

I'm 30, and only got on the gyro train when Splatoon 3 came out. There's a learning curve, but once you put the time in it's better than stick alone by far. Crank the sensitivity up and practice a bit, it'll eventually click. It takes a bit to retrain your brain to use the right stick to move your field of view while using gyro to aim at things you want to shoot.

I don't know if I'm weird but when I start a game I'll play it until I finish it. I don't play any other single player games in between, I just race around in Mario Kart or play Splatoon. I just started playing TotK for the first time and it might be months before I pick up another game.
