I do think Kefka is a good and memorable villain, but I’d hesitate to call him the best. I’d say Gabranth is my favourite FF villain. I’d rate Ultimecia pretty highly too because she’s creepy and eerie and her presence can be felt throughout the game despite her not getting a lot of screen time.

Sephiroth is a fucking meme villain though. People only liked him because he looked cool and because One Winged Angel was one of the first vidya tracks to include Latin choirs.

Jenova was never trying to drink the Lifestream herself. That plan came from Sephiroth after he drank a ton of Cetra juice in the Lifestream. When Jenova was first sealed it was because she LEFT the North Crater to go eat Cetra instead.

I think you should try remembering more than just the Gast tapes so that you have a more full context view of what Jenova was and what its goals supposedly were, and the planet's response, rather than just how it was defeated and where it was found.
