Bing bing wahoo is cool but when will Nintendo start making serious games like Horizon, TLOU or Spider Man 2?

Never, they always prioritize the gameplay over narrative. Xenoblade fills that niche, and maybe Fire Emblem idk

Nah, Xeno and FE are too gameplay focused. A cinematic experience needs to take all of that away from a player, place them on rails and have as little gameplay as possible.

Yes, Nintendo makes games, not "deep cinematic gameplay experiences" which everyone knows are just movies disguised as video games

Why is the west so obsessed with playable movies?

Because you'll soon realize that gameplay is not king when you grow up

Insecurity. They think that games need to be "taken more seriously as art". Their solution? Playable movies.
Anyone that can't recognise that video games are just a different kind of art, more akin to the craftsmanship you'd see in an old-fashioned wooden toy rather than the medium of film, lacks imagination.

ideally most of the game would consist of walk and talk segments where the player holds the left stick forward to slowly move while the characters prattle on and on

I can't think of a single game that I play just for the narrative. Things that actually matter more is stuff like Setting, immersion, world design etc, you can make a compelling game world without "muh cinematic storytelling"

Stupid people can't into videogames and think games are for children still. They need simpler, less interactive, ventures like movies to feel less stupid and more mature.

I think Nintendo has become a fat pile of dogshit, but this article thinks the cure is for them to be smug Neil Druckmannesque faggots and I personally hope that Nintendo somehow wins a lawsuit that causes the author of this shitslop article to need to buy a key card for "The Ability To Eat" so they can starve to death when Nintendo bricks their stomach.
