for a lot of ppl Love Hina was their first anime because in the late 90s and early 00s of dial-up Kazaa internet you had basically fuck all other options to watch.
You had Love Hina, Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Eva and a couple of literal coomer shows and that was it. To get episodes of these shows you had to drive maybe 2 hours or more to a lan party or anime meet-up and copy files from some dodgy looking pedo's hard drive and hope you didnt get a virus.
You KNEW you were watching trash, but you went to such efforts to get literally any sort of anime that it didnt matter.

I really feel bad for grown-up anime fans in their 80s having to literally buy pirated VHS tapes in an alley to watch new episodes of Sailor Moon.

Anime is pretty great up until about halfway through when the tone of the show completely changes and the soundtrack goes from a fun Drum and Bass OST to a serious Orchestral one.
Also the ending is really shit, dragged out over 2-3 regular episodes, 2 OVA movies and a 3-part OVA series where nothing really happens.

It honestly depends on how you want to start. But if you want production order, which makes the most sense, start with Ryo-Ohki OVA 1 and move from there. But the timeline I gave is the canon order. As you can see in there since the GXP novels are still going but the last thing on the timeline is an anime that finished airing. To be fair, Tenchi has an entirely different backdrop, while the romance is fairly central, there is stil something else if you liked, say Universe whixh had just the usual two girls jealously fighting over the guy not uncommon in shonen, and stuff like Tenchi in Tokyo focused more on his relationship with one girl rather than the harem as a whole, (worth noting thay Tokyo is thee only series where Kiyone outright stated she liked Tenchi, the noe robbed in that series was Mihoshi, although she also was in the running)

Love Hina caame later but was purely what we know today as harem as it was entirely about the Mc's relationship with the girls, which is exactly what has made it rather bland when looked back on, as the relationships are set in stone fairly early and Naru's presented as too far ahead in the Keitarobowl

For what it's worth i watched all 3 temchi main series when i was a kid and didn't catch Love hina until my adolescence

I got done reading UQ Holder a couple weeks ago after finishing Negima earlier this year.

Negima's great, but like the other guy said, it devolves into a rather mindless battle manga halfway into its run. It has some brilliant art and world building, but it openly flaunts its power level bullshit (going as far as posting RPG stats of characters in-chapter), and the fights towards the end are incomprehensible due to the ridiculous power level inflation it goes through. The final fight is basically a contest between gods of destruction, each one more than a match for all the combined arms of both the magic and the real world. It also abuses time travel to force a happy ending after working itself into a position where one isn't really feasible for all characters.

Even so, Negima's highs are stupid high; the first half is pure dumb fun, and the introduction of the magic world is a chain of absolute kino chapters. I'd say it's overall worth a read.

UQ Holder starts off as a non-sequel to Negima with a shockingly (and intentionally) one-dimensional main character, who ultimately never really gains any depth. The power level inflation starts off early and goes full retard, with some of the aforementioned gods of destruction from Negima jobbing hard when they show up. Halfway into its run it gives up being its own thing and starts trying to set up an alternative, less-happy ending to Negima. It alternates constantly between battle storylines, harem silliness (for the entirely undeserving main character) and bona fide Negima chapters, and the story just goes nowhere for volumes on end. When it does finally start moving, the pacing is very off, and the ending (which Negima needed a full volume for) is rushed through in a couple of chapters.

It has some good moments and nice concepts, but overall UQ Holder is pretty bullshit. Read only if you get super invested in Negima and need a different take on the original ending.

Unfortunately you won't get much of that even in the novels. The author got really hung up on Yumi and Sachiko. You get a peek at what Yumi is like at full bloom as rosa chinensis, but you don't get a full third year for her. Still a lovely read.

I would absolutely take a tasteful remake, though I also wonder what that'd mean for the soundtrack, seiyuus etc. Think I'd be a little stung if they didn't stick with the classical/chamber music that the original went with. I feel it's way too iconic for the series.

He went heavier on the lewds than in any of his previous works. Karin spent like half the series nude after getting her clothes torn off every single fight she took.
