I only played Wilds and that certainly doesn’t deserve it. Probably that expedition 33 that everyone keeps creaming over, I don’t know.

Personally it's Expedition 33 for now, probably will be by the end of the year still.
I'll be surprised if the soundtrack doesn't win a bunch of awards at the very least.

Well so far you have Expedition 33 and KC2 and maybe the bing bing wahoo donkey kong. Probably kojima shit as well. Then the only ones from later in the year that might be talked about at all are Borderlands 4, Silent Hill F, Ghost of Yotei, Metroid Prime 4 and Crimson Desert.

Honestly nothing stands out to me as a frontrunner.

Genuine question, does NightReign fill the void of Monster Hunter since Wilds had such a meh structure? I was weary since I'm not huge on Soulslikes or Roguelites but I've been curious. The biggest shame is that Wilds has my favorite rendition of my main weapon while Rise had my least favorite of it.

It's Elden Ring for people that want megabosses fleshed out even for coop play. It can certainly scratch the itch, but you won't get a MH experience from it. All the preparation and hunting is replaced with exploration, map traversal and defeating smaller enemies.
The boss fights are more similar to mini MMO raids
