If you're an actual book liker, you'd know books are just as much of a useless hobby as video games (albeit it fun), and there are so many shitty books out there where you're better off spending your time masturbating than reading.
You're an absolute retard if you unironically think saying "bro just read ANY book" is an actual good advice.
"Read books and build your own personal library" self-help fags aren't actually a book fan, they are an absolute pea-brains that fetishes the idea of reading more than wanting the book's content, might as well as tell people to "go and wear glasses to make yourself look smart"

Quite a lot of women read books but 99.999% of them aren't smart nor built a good "personal library" with those books.
If they weren't reading romance slops, they are reading a dumb self-help books for women with mid-life crisis, or an autobiography written by some celebrity for gossip whores.
There's a reason why those absolute slops are displayed at the storefront of book stores, and I think this habit of "reading" devolves personality more than develops them.
As much as I like reading books, "READING = INSTANT GOOD" mindset is detrimental to society.

My last job was either all boom or all bust, so we'd have days with absolutely nothing to do but since we could technically have a job come in at any time we still had to be there. I did tons of reading, and it was great at first, but then I began to hate reading. I wouldn't want to read at home, and then eventually I didn't want to read at work either, so I'd end up spending eight hours a day trying to find something to watch on Youtube or god forbid staring at my phone.

Mostly comics. That time coincided with me really finding interest in them and when I started to appreciate the library, so I taste tested a lot of first volumes to see what I would want to buy to keep.
Eventually I wanted something with more meat so I wasn't blowing through multiple different books a shift so I started earnestly reading literature for the first time in my life. I'm thankful that stuck, at least.

you can download almost every book for free. physical books and buying books is for retards. also, most books are shit, and you can save a lot of time by asking chatgpt for a summary instead of reading an entire book. the ratio of good books is much lower than the ratio of good games
