He's never really had to worry about it before, he always falls back on time travel or dreamscapes or whatever else for his DLCs and just sort of does whatever he wants that usually only tangentially connects to the base game. In Elden Ring, though, the setting that demands the most rigor, Miyazaki shows the least. The Land of Shadow is some type of pocket dimension or something with no connectivity to the larger world despite Marika being born there. Miquella somehow abandons his flesh at random spots on the map despite his flesh in Mohgwyn Palace being the thing that teleports you there. All dead things flow there, but somehow, the god of the dead doesn't apart from a few faces in catacombs. Somehow, Miquella needs Mohg's blood to teleport there but you don't. Miquella can just abandon his flesh at will despite Ranni needing to perform a fucked up murder ritual, etc.
It just made me realize that the lore was always just mindless schizo bait, which really rubs me the wrong way.
