Nightreign is unequivocally better than base elden ring. It brings me back to first getting into dark souls games and jolly cooperation was something embraced instead of shunned with "you didn't beat it" fags. Elden ring is open world dogshit that I remember having many moments of anger where as dark souls 1 was entirely bliss and awe of discovery, and even with its annoyances were easy to overlook and find fun with.

The character model is Radahn but the fights don't play even remotely similarly. Yes there are some moves that echo the original Radahn fight, but even those require different reactions from the original fight.

Reviews on a DLC are inherently going to be skewed lower because who the fuck leaves a review on a DLC specifically? Steam doesn't prompt you to do it like with the game itself so unless you have something to bitch about you're not likely to bother.

This is almost exactly what I wanted except Miquella guides us thru the shadowlands and wants us to put Godwyn to rest.
The entire base game seems geared towards this being the foundation of the dlc, even the fucking art with an entirely non evil looking Miquella on a horse starring at the eld tree getting deathrooted, it fucking writes itself but nooooo hackazaki has to have onry baddu endingu, mustu copy Beserku, so Miquella HAS to be evil and HAS to have a bad end.
Fucking hack. Worst main game expansion to date.

The base game set up Godwyn to be in the expansion, the whole eclipse shit and trying to bring his comrade's soul back is quite literally about Godwyn. Radahn being there ruins everything and you can't help but wonder if it the main writer had a stroke or something

I think it is very simply that Miyazaki doesn't have the talent to make a coherent world. He's never really had to worry about it before, he always falls back on time travel or dreamscapes or whatever else for his DLCs and just sort of does whatever he wants that usually only tangentially connects to the base game. In Elden Ring, though, the setting that demands the most rigor, Miyazaki shows the least. The Land of Shadow is some type of pocket dimension or something with no connectivity to the larger world despite Marika being born there. Miquella somehow abandons his flesh at random spots on the map despite his flesh in Mohgwyn Palace being the thing that teleports you there. All dead things flow there, but somehow, the god of the dead doesn't apart from a few faces in catacombs. Somehow, Miquella needs Mohg's blood to teleport there but you don't. Miquella can just abandon his flesh at will despite Ranni needing to perform a fucked up murder ritual, etc.

It just made me realize that the lore was always just mindless schizo bait, which really rubs me the wrong way.
