DC added Very Hard difficulty and a bunch of new structures. None of the structures or new equipment are particularly overpowered at all, they are mostly novelty for a slightly different way to play and more ways to deliver things.
The most powerful structures and equipment are still in the base game

Did he play past the first five hours? Outside of your first time at Mountain Knot you can avoid every single BT encounter just by putting a bridge over a river or even flat ground to avoid their spawns. Sure, your first trip to the Weather Station might suck but once you put a bridge over the river there you can just drive up the mountain without stopping and hit Weather Station, then Timefall Farm is like a minute away by truck or bike.

The DC was even easier thanks to the jump pads.
