1. Learn and memorize the 2 kanas

2. Start learning the basic kanjis and how they work, I suggest using Wanikani because it's free in the first few levels.

3. From this point on go FULL on grammar, study kanjis in the side with things like Anki but grammar is much much important

4. After a month, start trying actual raw content, mangas with furigana or VNs using text hooks like Textractor


And just keep at it for a year or two, remember, the biggest japanese noob trap is thinking that you need to know every kanji to know Japanese, people spend years and years doing anki without actually learning anything.

The hardest part of any sentence is writing in hiragana.

read genki or tae kim or whatever
start reading tadoku and the easiest possible mangas
use ocr to extract the text from those mangas and turn it into flashcards (i just copypaste everything straight into jpdb)
start playing ez games (watching jp streamers play is a decent way to get a sense of whether your comprehension is good enough for that game yet)

what also works pretty well is just yoloing a game and take screenshots whenever you dont understand something, then you can just feed those into ocr like you would with manga. also dont be too afraid to try things above your level. it'll be a slog at first but language is repetitive enough that you'll very quickly get acquainted with the most important words
