I've been working on it for 2 years. It keeps me busy and I'm having fun. Uploaded 2 Kirby videos this past weekend and I'm on track for 2 Mario ones next weekend. There's one kid who actually tunes in for streams when he can and I took a game suggestion from him after beating Mega Man 1 and ended up streaming for an additional 4 hours cause I was just having fun. Wish I had more people watching, but I'm grateful he's stuck around no matter what I play.

I did. Can't say its getting any success at all, but I post every 3 days. My videos get 5-20 views. A little demotivating at this point but I guess i'll keep it up. I'm not sure what the "issue" is, I don't think the titles/thumbnails are bad, but apparently the "Click through rate" is abysmal at most videos under 1%, so I have no idea what the youtube algorithim is doing for me. I work hard on the thumbnails and stuff, I don't think its that, but people don't even click on the videos so I dunno. It's only been a few weeks, maybe it will pick up /copium.

I used to be into making GMVs but I eventually stopped doing that after losing some hearing in my right ear about 8 years ago. I only had about 5000 subs back then I think. I made some Halo related videos a couple of years ago that did pretty well and I'm currently sitting at just over 20000+. For real, I laugh at people dying, I make crude sexual jokes, and I don't hold back my criticisms of people.
I walk down the street, mothers clutch their kids, old ladies jaywalk through 2 lanes of busy traffic to avoid bumping shoulders with me, and men immediately tense up like they're getting ready for a fight.

Personally, I think streaming is a lot harder to start than video making. As you said, if you do steam and no one watches it will be hard to stay motivated, while with a video you don't know how many people will watch it until it's uploaded, which makes it easier to stay motivated.

99% of the time I stream to no one. I do treat it as a standard recording for my LP's so I keep up the commentary and it really doesn't bother me if no one is watching. If anything, it throws me off when someone is chatting, cause sometimes I'm telling a story so I juggle reacting/playing the game, responding to the comment, and telling the story at the same time. It can feel a little chaotic, but I welcome it. Obviously I want people watching and chatting. The only thing I can't handle is having a camera on my face, so I don't. That's genuinely what I want too anon. I pretty much don't have friends though and my brother has a career and family. Barely has time for me. I feel like the best bet is to work on your own channel and hope you make creator friends along the way who are willing to collab often. I've heard too many horror stories of friend groups with no experience starting something up and then 1 friend slacking, or 1 friend being over demanding, or money just ruining the friendship.

I have a Twitch with 450 followers and a youtube channel with 80 subs after two years of "trying" as a vtuber, though in reality I've done maybe 2-3 months worth of streaming and videos in total, my work ethic is complete shit and I usually prefer to work on shorter ideas in bursts rather than handle any long-term planning. The YT is currently a mix bag between gaming stuff and roleplay stuff with a couple of animatics thrown in, I want to split those two things into different channels once I decide what the goal is with a dedicated roleplay channel but at the moment I want to figure out what I'm doing for dedicated gaming channel first. After I finish my El Shaddai playthrough on Twitch, I'll probably throw a compilation together for it but otherwise I unfortunately haven't thought ahead that far.

Have 700 subscribers over 3 years. Mostly post full longplays that get like 20 views. Those are mostly for myself as like a video game diary. Just a full record of what i play. Some vinyl rips along with numerous anime i upload with hardware upscaling. For example i uploaded my dvd upscale of Betterman. No one had put the series up, much less at a modern resolution. Ive made about $50 in random gofundme donations. Its mostly just for fun. Would be nice to make money from ads but i think me uploading anime will probably disqualify me being monetized since its someone elses work i assume.

I've only heard one australian youtuber who actually sounds normal to me https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89psZy-2-VY and I don't think most people online including /v/ even know she's australian. It varies obviously where you are, but for the most part it's very mild in real life but on youtube they either overly exaggerate it for some reason or they straight up sound like nails on chalkboard
