Ok coom posting aside and getting serious about Pokemon now this is a horrible take
The evil team isn't the greatest but it's a perfect blend of humor and seriousness, because it's basically just eco-terrorism on both ends. The teams are present enough that the plot becomes a lot more engaging unlike the "just fight the villains when you run into them" shit of gens 1/2, and not the god awful tryhard "look it's the god of the universe" shit in gen IV that went too hard on the lore while having the most clown ass villains ever.
And gen 3 literally introduced the most new mons post gen 1 outside of gen v which literally was a soft reboot and yet nearly every single design is great with the worst being mid tier at most. And this is with nearly every design being original and not related to previous mons unlike the shit in gen IV. You cool mons like Aggron or Sharpedo, cute mons like Gardevoir or Grumpig, weird shit like Solrock/Lunatone, etc etc
Not to mention the best region in the series that flows and progresses better than anything else and some of the best music in the series and it makes Hoenn damn near perfect.
Even with Emerald not having a phys/special split and ORAS not having Emerald content both those games are still god tier because Hoenn is great at its core
That and May has fat tits
